Post Edited: 28.01.2014 @ 20:19 PM by AMG walker said: I think plenty care about all the distances including the shorter ones, hence the thousands of posted times and records.. Indoor rowing is a sport in it's own right so not really 'just used for fitness' either. I think you are confusing your own opinion with facts.. If these guys down your rowing club are way faster lets see some times then.. I mean it's only a minute or so out of their day.. I wasn't going to respond to this thread as I was leaving as you can think what ever the f**k you want...... Evidently within this forum, you just have to be powerful to get a fast 500m time. How f**ked and out of breath were you after? Let's say I can row 1:25... 500m if were to do and anaerobic workout it would be 500m x 6 all at 1:30 per 500 at a constant stroke rate, why waste a workout just doing 500m and need a 10 minuet recovery time, it is not beneficial. it's all about training methodology. There is no point going hell for leather as it equates to an inefficient slide on the water. I wouldn't even class indoor rowing as a sport, it doesn't even have any accolades of worth. Why don't we care so much about 500m? Because 2k is the olympic race length. I'll see if a few of the lighter guys want a go but I doubt they will be bother after rowing for 3 hours on water. Edit: Just because it's a record doesn't mean people can't go faster, there is hardly any rowing videos online of any british rowers.

jt said: yeah and the guy who delivers my welding gas used to deadlift half a ton ![]() All an erg is used for is fitness, why would any of them bother to turn up to an indoor race of 500m to race again an indoor rowing club :L..... 2k is the standard test for rowing.... none cares what you can do over 500m as rowing is a medium length endurance sport. Let's say you can row 1:30/500... average.... over 2k? very good. If a rower was to do an indoor race it would be 2k. Just stating fact.

I take that the pull-up is indeed that, and not a chin up. I doubt that is legit, the Guinness worlds record is 93.5 by a poster on bb.com who owns this website http://www.extremepullups.com

I do consider myself strong in to comparison to my friends. I don't when I walk into my local gym which is a strongman/powerlifitng gym. However, it is inspiring spotting someone on a 200kg pause close grip bench press or what not. For me though, there isn't many people at my size who could pull 200kg and run 6 miles in 45 minuets with ease, so I like to think I have a combination of the two.

Did 5000m today in 19:47 - 1.59 spilt at 20 spm. Could have gone a lot faster if the stroke rate had of been higher of around 25-30 but was concentrating on technique.

Just did 500m in 1.36 which is quite honestly pathetic for me due to the drinking in freshers. Let myself down like... awaits next rowing session next Saturday. One step back to fitness at a time. |
