Top effort from all the lads today. Very well organised comp, Steve's deadlift PB was great to see, Jeremy's overhead medley was brilliant.

Surely an easy way to go about this would be 1 big federation, in which all powerlifting is governed, with 4 categories: raw tested, raw untested, equipped tested, equipped untested. Obviously the weight classes within these.

This would keep everyone happy as the main problem (IMO, consistancy between comps) would be much better, which lets people be more able to compare themselves to others, etc. And everyone can still lift how they wish. Just means everyone's under the same tree with the same rules, rather than all these (usually american) federations that are breaking world records every meet, with different standards to other comps.

That's the only way that i would have thought would get powerlifting into the olympics too. Though, im unsure about the untested guys/ girls..... Grin

That was a great watch, love those compilations.

I agree on every point that you said there aswell, Marc. Especially with regards to rules in different federations, squat depth for example.

Is cast iron strength your website? I was on it recently reading about the russian masters squat routine which I really fancy doing.

Thanks for keeping it real bro. My longer-term goal is to become competitive at 105kg, and aesthetic. Is this deemed too gay for Sugden? You wouldn't be mirin, brah..?

I am contemplating, when I can get back training, to go on a sick-ass cut for summer.

Help me. I've been spending too much of this time off on the misc.

3 weeks today since my op and I managed to get in the gym on monday and today.

On Monday I farted about on the bike and cross-trainer for a little while and followed that with some leg raises, which I was very surprised I could do pain-free.

Today I went on the bike again, just for 10mins as the seat was giving me a helluva sore arse, then I did some standing single-legged leg raises, and I think 7 x 10 proper leg raises in the frame.

Did some Karlsen flys afterwards out of pure curiosity - I like them, and they will definitely be used in my training when I can get back to it.

Still a little bit sore at times but what I did today was pain-free. Same again tomorrow, onwards and upwards.

Booya, to pull 320kg after all that... awesome deadlifting.

For anyone interested, there's a live news update here:

Two brothers originally from Chechnya, Russia (confirmed by their uncle who also lives in the states) one has been killed and another is on the run.
» Anyone tried Deadlifting in Olympic Shoes? (Go to post)19-04-2013 @ 12:42
I find I can get into a much better starting position, but fall forward when I get the weight off the floor due to the raised heels so I usually just wear converse or take my shoes off.

However, plenty of olympic lifters shift a hellish amount of weight off the floor wearing them, with some adjustments to your standard technique in flat soled shoes, you'd be able to pull quite comfortably in them.

You'll probably end up "squatting" the weight up, much like Igor here, and Misha does a similar technique.

I feel like Mr Freeze has just cupped my balls after using the mint "Original Source" shower gel.

Not sure if I like or not.

Squats look way better with a quicker descent and that was a cracking front squat there too.
» Misha 342.5 DL for 10!? (Go to post)18-04-2013 @ 00:24
Misha's incredible. Great all round lifter. I love his deadlift tekkers, even his maxes look easy; flawless technique.

Has potential to be very good. I hope they don't over do it with the high 5s and cheesy motivational bulls**t, i have my doubts though!
