Gym is in Birkenhead by the Queensway tunnel just as you come out (quick access from Liverpool). Nearest train station is Liverpool.

We do strongman, powerlifting, some crossfitters would have fun here and general strength conditioning.

Also have a fully qualified sports massage therapist (former Occupational Therapist too) with military background and competes in Strongman (so, err, me).

Opening times from 4pm every weekday until 9pm. Weekends 8am till 9pm.

Strongman/Strongwoman event training every weekend from 10am.

I live 2 mins from the gym so can offer a pick up/drop off key service if you want to train out of hours.

A PT is interested in hiring the gym during the day for personal business use too.

Cost is £4 a session or £25 per month with a written programme / £20 without

We have a super yoke, log, farmers, duckwalk, viking press, a texas deadlift bar, wolverson olympic bar, football bar, curl bar. dumbbels upto 40kg (expanding them soon), a 90kg circus dumbbell, trap bar, squat rack, two benches...

...oh and a Tablet with Spotify so you can pick your own music Happy

Well after 2/3 months of some hard work, graft and all that jazz I've finally opened the gym.

Really pleased with how it all looks so far. Few more things to add of course and some video content coming soon.

My company does well with Facebook advertising, loads better than any other method. My business isn't anything to do with fitness though.

I've done well selling the tacky, salts, remover and liquid chalk I make on facebook. Pretty much gave me the money to start up the gym project.

Rick who used to come on here goes to the Vauxhall gym

Old Time Strength Gym

oldtimestrengthgym on the facebooks and insta

Rick is dropping his strongman kit in next week or the week after. Needs a place to train as the Vauxhall strongman area is completely underused. Most guys either quit, injured or too old.

Facebook page is up haha.

Will be getting some tyres in but still working out space requirements. We do have plenty of run outside but just other priorities.

slow_lift_joe said:What I do find interesting is Louie Simmons states quite clearly he has no problem with steroids in powerlifting. I like Louie but I do not agree with him on this point. But he has forgotten more about powerlifting than I know, so who am I compared to the elite he has trained, I would like a debate with him on this very point.

I look at this way I want to be strong naturally so I do it natural. Using PED's your true strength is not true strength but a false gauge and a decline in your true strength will follow when you are not on the juice.

Slow Lift Joe.

You're contradicting yourself completely: "a decline in your true strength will follow when you are not on the juice"

You wrote before true strength is not built with steroids. So how can your true strength fall when you stop taking? Doesn't make sense.

But I'll debate you. Steroids are simply hormones. That's it. Nothing magic. Everyone produces them to some degree naturally. When you get older you product less. Simple aging effect. So your true strength is never ever fully realised because of Father Time/Mother Nature.

With steroids you can put a pause on the natural effect of aging and there are significant health benefits for men over the age of 40 at LEAST being on a TRT dose of testosterone (lower risk of heart attack, improved lipids and HDL/LDL etc).

Why would Louie have an issue with steroids in powerlifting anyway considering he has used them for around 30 years?

Took the plunge as in my area (Wirral) all of the strongman kit in pretty much every gym has either been sold off, left to rot or the area for doing the work has been replaced with machines.

So renting a 1000sq ft unit and have:

2 x deadlift platforms built by my own fair hands (they look amazing if I do say so myself)
1 x power cage with monolift attachment (built by my welder buddy Andy)
2 benches
Brand new dumbbells upto 40kg... adding more next month
120kg of Primal Strength bumper plates
400kg of cast iron plates (within 0.5% of tolerance)
1 x texas deadlift bar
1 x Primal Strength Heavy bar
2 other bars a bit cheaper but good for benching and non specific work
1 x WER football bar (goddamn love this)
1 x WER curl bar
1 x Lat Pulldown multi functional thingy

Also have stones from 40kg to 205kg, a yoke, farmers and prowler. Probably some other kit I'm forgetting no doubt.

So far so good. Looking to open on 1st July. Been a lot of graft getting to this stage.

Not far off the magical 700lbs target.

Hopefully another 3 month cycle should see another 7.5kg added to this along with some technique fixes (no suit)

Type in "skinny kid ripping phone book in half" on youtube and you'll see that it's a pretty crap test of strength.
