Cheers for the replies fellas.

Application is going in next week. I have a couple of part time jobs lined up. Also been offered some work at my gym which is even better. Also helping my lady set up her online hair & beauty stuff so should have plenty going on to keep some pennies rolling in.

Pretty good first week just feeling the movements again, keeping things highish volume to get through DOMS which, I forgot, is horrid. Hope I'll soon be walking properly again. Leg still needs some muscle growth following the infection but strength is ok. Good place to start from and build the base.

Can't say too much but looks like I won't be in work very soon. I thought my fiance would be ripping my eyeballs out with stress etc but she's actually very enthusiastic saying that I can now go and do what I've always wanted.

Trouble is, it's all quite scary. I'm 32 in a couple of months. I have a degree already but it's not in the area I want. I'd feel a right prick going back to college to do an Access to Health course and then the resulting health related degree but I guess I'd feel even more grim aged 40 having spent 8 years putting it off.

I guess being at college/uni has it's other benefits such as more time to train and spend with my kids. I can always work part time to keep the cash coming in.

f**king hell. I think I've talked myself into it!

16.10.14

Very well refreshed after my holiday so I'm resuming training again...

Restated Goals:

125kg Axle Press for 5 reps
140kg Log Press
320kg Deadlift
250kg squat for 5 reps
125kg Strict Press
440kg Yoke
200kg Front Squat

These are to be achieved by the end of March. That's 23 weeks of training. I'll give it a good go.

Me too (not with 190kg though)
Apparently I looked like I was having a fit on the floor with my arm and legs jerking and flailing all over. All good fun! Grin

Someone sort of caught me. Head was heading for something sharp!

slimsim said:I don't think it's anything to do with not breathing, he'd only started the lift about 3-seconds ago so he can't have run out of breath.

More likely that he just caught the bar badly on his carotid artery and cut off his blood supply to his brain.

As long as he's using full sized bumpers he'll be fine Grin

Looking at it properly it looks to be the case.

I did something similar with a front squat. 190kg and rolled back onto my throat. Was horrible.

30.09.14

Been away fighting an infection in hospital. Grim stuff. Nearly had leg amputated. Very lucky boy.

Still fighting the infection but well enough to return to gym last night.

250kg deadlift for a single then 180kg for 3 sets of 8. Couple of other bits and that was it.

Off on holiday on Friday so it was just a session to see where I was.

During holiday I'll be doing plenty of swimming, eating mainly meat only and training a little in the hotel gym in the mornings before breakfast. Should come back jacked and tanned.

Newer PEDS.

The historical or traditional weapons of choice are pretty much redundant among the super rich/elite these days.

The only way to truly combat PEDs in sports is to have a truly retrospective system going back say 25 years from the point of a competition to allow science to catch up.

Every strongman I have ever spoken to doesn't have a clue about EPO. Some might have vaguely recalled Lance Armstrong using it.

In any case it's way behind in the science now. Things like GW1516 are enhancing people at the genetic level and AICAR at the metabolic.
