TRIED TO MAKE ME GO TO REHAB SESSION II

Standing DB Press: 18.5kg 4 x 15

Push Press: 50kg x 5, 65kg x 3, 70kg x 3, 80kg 10 x 3 (30-40 secs rest between sets)

Pec Dec: 37.5 x 40, 52.5kg x 25, 67.5kg 4 x 12

CGBP: 50kg 4 x 8

Seated Row: 37.5kg x 30, 52.5kg x 20, 75kg 3 x 12

DB Shrugs: 26kg 3 x 25

Summary

Last session of this week before starting on another 16 week run of Westside on Monday. Tweaked my back a little today... bit stiff walking around shops a little while ago. Will just foam roll, rest and eat - seems to work most of the time.

It's weird, I can carry a 260kg frame up and down without a problem and then as soon as I take a few days off anything taxing my lower back I get a friggin' tweak. Work that one out?

I'm all signed up to do my first novice comp... and my first time doing any strongman events training. So, funnily enough, this is a video of my first attempts with the yoke. Worked up to 260kg. Final week of drinking a ton of milk will soon be at an end and I can get the bloated look down lol

DE Mixed Session 24

Foam rolling and 2 x 10 goblet squats to warm up - basement was bloody freezing tonight

Box Squats: 20kg 2 x 10, 60kg x 5, 90kg x 5, 110kg x 3, 125kg 10 x 3 (30 secs rest between sets)

Push Press: 20kg x 5, 50kg x 5, 70kg x 3, 80kg 10 x 3 (30 secs rest between sets) PR

Good Mornings: 70kg 4 x 12

Planks: 4 x 60 secs PR

Front Squats: 70kg 4 x 8 + 1 x 20 widowmaker finisher... and finished I was

Not training Friday due to Strongman events training at the weekend so I combined my normal DE Lower and Upper day and picked a few assistance exercises to round off the session. Squats felt hard but I did set the plates lower on the box so I went an inch or two lower than normal. Hips were really stretched out.

I haven't felt like this after a session for weeks. Really went balls to wall with it. Hardly any rest between sets/exercises either. It was just bam, bam, bam...couple of PRs to boot which is always nice!

Never used one of those tbh so I can't really comment. I do love my Zulu belt though despite it looking very similar to some cheaper ones out there.

Maybe find someone who has one and try a couple out first?

Cheers mate.

This will be my first ever comp. Need to drop 13kg before then so time on my side to do it right. Looking forward to meeting everyone and giving this a real go.

ME Session 22 (12/11/12)

Rack Pull: 60kg x 8, 100kg x 5, 140kg x 3, 160kg x 3, 180kg x 3, 200kg x 3, 220kg x 3, 240kg x 1, 260kg x 1, 280kg - F x 2

I felt like utter dogs**t before my session; had a pounding headache all day and the pressure in my head was ridiculous. My back was aching and my legs didn't want to work. I managed to match my last rack pull session so am comforted somewhat by the performance. In other words, I didn't go backwards despite being ill. I can't be too disappointed.

ME Session 23 (13/11/12)

Push Press: 20kg x 5, 50kg x 5, 60kg x 3, 75kg x 3, 85kg x 3, 90kg x 3, 95kg x 3, 100kg x 3, 105kg x 2 (rep PR), 110kg - F. 115kg - F x 2
Strict Press: 60kg 5 x 8 (PR)
Pec Dec: 4 x 12
Standing DB Press: 13.5kg x 12, 16kg 4 x 12 superset with Lat Pulldown 45kg 4 x 12
Seated Row: 12 reps at 50/70/90kg and then 3 x 12 at 110kg

Bit of a better session but still had the pressure in my head. I got a rep PR but at the expense of tweaking my shoulder. So not sure why I bothered going for the other lifts. I did nearly lock out the 115kg attempts but my left shoulder just wouldn't lock out. Strange but, again, I can't be too unhappy as I didn't go backwards.

I AM taking a rest from Max Effort push pressing for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Great performances from the lads today. Weather was fresh and difficult to keep warm but everyone kept going. Really good to see a fair crowd there with plenty of cheering too. Fair few kids there too getting into it. The more these things become family orientated the better I think.

Very well organised by Dave and his team too. And James pulling a 1000LBS 18" deadlift was a sight to behold!

For your box squat, you need to push your arse further back and get some tension in your hamstrings. Will lead to a more successful box squat.

Jacko24 said:As its comming up to the 25th of december, I have been pondering what i would like to be spoilt with by my family, i want a new belt and some shoes.

is it worth getting a rehband powerline back support? or just somthing along the lines of a zulu belt? will mostly be for strongman training.

also some lifting shoes, is there many difference between do wins and addidas?

I have a zulu belt and it will make you stronger mate. There are ones the same thickness though which are half the price. I paid £55 for mine but reasoned it will last me a long time. Best money I have spent.

Lifting shoe wise... the Do-Wins are good. Would go down half a shoe size whatever you choose. You want them snug. The look of the Adidas Power ones is hard to resist though Wink

It goes quickly. Massage the area a little to release any knots and you should be fine.

Hope you get the injury fixed up soon Pagan. Nothing worse than not being able to train consistently.
