matthewvc said: sounds similar my current routine Wed - comp squats pref out of mono Sat - pause squats walked out Go pretty heavy on both sessions if possible. Volume is nothing massive but it adds up I suppose 2x week. I think this is the type of thing I'll be moving back to after this cycle. I want to continue to ramp the volume/frequency up. The weird thing is that I tend to feel better doing my main Squat sessions 2 weeks apart. So I may end up with some weird schedule where I do the Squat and 3 other variations across 2 weeks in a way of keeping the fortnight schedule but still get in more volume which doesn't hurt the knees.

Post Edited: 24.11.2015 @ 18:54 PM by Fazc A bit off topic but for those who squat infrequently, have you tried adding in squat variations in the days between squat sessions. Perhaps in a H/L/M fashion. How did that go? Was that a more acceptable way of adding volume. Monday = Squat Thursday = Front Squat Or even Monday = Squat high volume Wednesday = Front Squat lowish volume Friday = Pause Squat medium volume

I never really realised how much I grunt till someone pointed it out. The whole valsalva thing seems a better idea in theory though.

Front squat - 2 singles Pin press - few singles Machine nonsense I can relate to the frequency of the lifts. Once a week training or once every other week on the big lifts has treated me well. My volume varied but was typically a lot higher.

Thanks for the input lads. It won't be low bar squats because I've only just switched to them today. Hammer curls and the like I can definitely do more of. I like advice of just stepping away from them for a while. I suspect and a friend also suggested it was probably just some overuse tendinitis which needs rest. This is probably true. Won't be benching again until Friday so we'll see then.

If you're going to do this drop set to failure regularly I would do it to absolute failure when you have a deload/light week the week after. Other times leave a few in the tank and focus on quality of reps.

Post Edited: 20.11.2015 @ 17:29 PM by Fazc Hello Sugdenites another question for you, Generally if something feels off when I'm Benching it's my forearms. Not the elbows but actually right in the forearm/brachialis. They'll feel weak, and almost feel like they're giving out. It's not something that always happens when I Bench heavy, but it usually happens when I've been Benching heavy for a while without a break. So what's causing this? How can I fix this? This happens with and without sleeves, Close or Wide. Wrists cocked back or straight. Or is it really just a case of when I need a break something has to give, and for me this is it rather than elbows or shoulders. This is not a massive issue right now, but it's a minor detail which I should really fix before it becomes something else. little_a said: Depends how you view 'level' and of what. Well put Lemon Fresh. My main goals still involve lifting so no I definitely would not be content with a reduced level. For a few years I've been at a reduced level and it isn't fun. I'm pretty sure in 10 years or so when I begin to decline the choice between staying the course or "going on" will be an easy one.
