The show at the royal Albert hall last night was the best one I’ve been to. Not sure if it was the venue, the seats or the fact it’s been postponed so much due to Covid, but I loved it!

I notice there’s no Mateusz in the line up. Is his recovery taking longer than expected? Or perhaps something else.

Look at it overall. Arnold's is 6 events in two days. WUS is 5 in one day.
Arnold's 2017 1,565lb/700kg yoke was a 15m sprint. It took people 10-15 seconds. 450kg for 60seconds will be a beast.
Arnold's usual Frame is with straps again for like 15-20m. This farmers is no straps for 30m.
Add in it's the same competition as a max distance leg event and heavy log for reps and your going to have a lot of jelly legged athletes.
Maybe heaviest is the wrong word, but it's certainly going to feel heavy by event 3.

Fair. Maybe ‘hardest’ is a better word Happy

WUS events are out for the day before the fight at the same venue.
180kg log for reps (Iron Bibby did 5 last time)
450kg Yoke for distance over 60 seconds
180kg farmers for 30m
Mystery event
The 10 stone atlas run up to 200kg
Arnold's is no longer the heaviest show...

There’s not a single event there that’s heavier than Arnold’s, or am I missing something?

It sounds awesome and nice to mix things up a bit. Maybe it’ll be s**te, hopefully not.

I willed that last stone over! Amazing stuff mate, still going strong and that log was a delight to watch. Looking very lean too. Well done.

Any idea why? The straps appear to be removed on the monolift in the above video.

I can only think that a) they deem it too dangerous for someone with 500kg to rely solely on the straps and then b) having spotters with straps is too dangerous in case a spotter gets caught up in said straps.

impressive weight to be shifting.
never touched a kettlebell but im guessing this would be slightly easier than a dumbell press?
I wonder why kettlebells havent been taken up much in strongman. they would seem to fit the profile of sm kit pretty well - big bit of metal to be put overhead. think I remember them being used for a throwing event? but not overhead.

Easier in some ways, harder in others. Huge amount of force put on the elbow at that weight. Try lying down and pressing a heavy kettlebell with both hands then holding it with just one. I’ve done it with a 58 but the 70 would dislocated my elbow for sure.

90kg x 10 kettlebell press by a guy that looks more like a football player than a lifter.

Dammmmm

There’s a guy on Instagram call kettlebellkarl who’s a monster. He’s pressed a 93 on both sides but I think even he might struggle to do 10 reps!
