Very fun and interesting to read. Great write up.

Right so far ive got:

Stop training 3-4 days out from the comp with the last session being a light one.

Eat porridge and possibly drink a mass gainer before the comp starts if nerves will let me stomach it.

During the comp eat sweets, jaffa cakes, maybe flapjacks and drink a sh*t load of isotonic drinks and water.

Anything i've missed out there?

terryhollands said:I take 4 days rest but 5 days out a very light workout. I always think 1 week out you won't get stronger so better to go inas strong and fresh. I use mass gainers the morning of the comp more to get some extra carbs and calories in my body. Through the comp I eat nothing as I have no appetite so I have plenty of carb drinks, sweets and electrolytes with me

4 days seems to be the general way of thinking so I'll stick to doing light workout on the monday and tuesday then rest till the competition sunday, that sound right? Do you not eat any whole foods at all before a comp then? Completely forgot about carb drink to be honest, I'm guessing stay away from carbonated ones or does it not really matter? Might be a stupid question but does it matter what kind of sweets? Like do you mean hard boiled sweets or just sweets in general?

not fruit. i have read and was told by slimsim that fruit contains mostly fructose, which preferentially becomes liver glycogen versus muscle glycogen
go with flapjacks and sweets and have a protein shake after the competition

Oh right see I was told to take tinned fruit aswell so glad I posted this now! Best stock up on sweets and flapjacks then.

hixxy1985 said:personally i like to go into comp feeling strong but with couple days of rest and stretching. so train right up till 3 days before.

Protein shakes on comp day? does anyone do this?

i like oats before comps, usually. Then bananas and plenty of water during.

I was told a week but thought that was to much of a rest so ill go with 3-4 days which seems to be the average and see how I go. I wasn't sure on the protein shake to be honest it was just a guess, so im best off with just fruit and carbs then?

Any ideas for goid foods to take on the day or do you just stick with shakes?

I'm 2 weeks out from my first comp and wanted to see peoples opinions on when to stop training? Do you train right up to the competition or stop a week or so before? Also what are the best foods to take on the day for energy or just stick with protein shakes?

Any other tips would be appreciated. Cheers.

Very good video and fun to watch. The dumbbell and squat failure are still annoying me.

Yeah, Katona, then surely Gearing smashes Jack on all but the deadlift?

Gearing beat Jack in the deadlift at BSM so could be a good one for him and not so good for Jack unfortunately. Be good if they can both get through.
