Boxing

Lots and lots of varied ab work in the warmup. My abs and lower back are sore as hell today. Some hard sparring sessions as well, i need this night off tonight.

Soundtrack Hatebreed real workout motivation stuff. Nothing like hardcore for pushing you through a hard session, and doing anything after deadlifts feels hard.

The first set of deadlifts felt hard but then once I got into it and started really exploding off the floor the other sets came fairly easily.
Box squats felt hard but its still moving up so I am happy. All the rest was fairly straight forward. Skipped the shoulder stabiliser work as I am boxing tonight.

Soundtrack Kreator Another combination of old and new from another of the best metal bands of all time.

Well it took me 1hr 45mins but luckily I had no other plans for Saturday. The shoulder stabilisation work really burns and I felt it the next day. I have started fairly easily on the strict press and will build up slowly to get a decent weight in the next few months. Very pleased that my dips are still going up. Hopefully this will all culminate into a large bench come December.

Boxing

Really hard session, losts of sprinting and then lots of sparring. It annihilated me but at least i made a decent account of myself at the sparring. I really havnt lost a great deal of my conditioning which is good. Especially seen as Bloodstock is in 3 weeks. Hatebreed, Testament and Machine Head back to back should test my conditioning to its limits.

Soundtrack The Rocky Soundtrack Yes my boxing gym now has the rocky sound track. A bit cliche i know but its better than the hippity hop they usually play. Plus Eye of the Tiger and Getting Stronger are still very motivating tracks.

Soundtrack Cannibal Corpse All songs on shuffle again. When cycling through a load of new music its very easy to forget just how good the classics like CC and Slayer actually are.

My abs hurt before this workout due to the heavy chins as part of the balance testing on Sunday. I wasn’t sure about this one and none of it felt comfortable but the weight still went up. I am very happy with this workout, I have put some size on my legs recently as well. They are responding very well to this form of training.

One of the PTs at the gym went through some balance work with me. I think it was worth paying for the session. Apparently I have an imbalance in that my pulling is a lot stronger than my pushing which doesn’t worry me.

Apparently my shoulder support is a lot weaker than it should be for the amount I am benching. Both my external rotation and my trap 3 are remedial. The PT says if I put that right I should be able to generate a lot more power on the bench. Lets see if it works.

Soundtrack Slayer all albums (well, the except a few of the worse ones), on shuffle. Will get anyone through any workout.

Happy with the progress here. Deadlifts coming up nicely and not feeling too heavy and box squats are shooting up. That really is a weakness that’s getting beaten down.

It was one of those days where I had to keep checking the weights because they were all going up so easily. Really good day at the gym. I am encouraged by the amount of progress my legs are making.

Today workout
60 minutes slamming in the Municipal Waste pit.
Not sure whether to class it as cardio or max efforts given that some of the folk were pretty big. But anyway, i hurt like hell today which is the main thing i think.

Most horrific workout ever i believe. Was in the huddersfield gym, warmup up and tried my first heavy set of deadlifts. The floor is so full of divots and holes that the bar was trying to roll out of my hands every time i put it down, and i was pulling it from a couple of inches down when it did land in the holes.

I gave it up as a bad job and just hit about 7 sets of heavy log press.

I owe myself a deadlift session next week.
