x 2 I'm the same as you.......it must feel great to be able to pull near max weights fast off the floor, I guess it's a mix of individual biomechanics, how fast the nerves fire and muscle fibre type, ie some guys may be more explosive but tire towards lockout whereas when we eventually get it off the floor we have more endurance (even on a single) to complete the rep.
To test my theory it would be interesting to know who would be best at repping say 90% of max, our type or the explosive off the floor guys?
Could be bo***cks but it's my explanation Happy

In afew weeks ill have ago at 90 percent got to finish coan first then will do and see what the rep range is like

PeteHodgson said:Great pull!

But it's got me thinking. The speed you pull from the floor is about as fast as i would pull 160, then you struggle with lockout, whereas if I got 252.5kgs (for exampe) above the knee it would speed up considerably. Now I know lots of people slow down near lockout and may need to hitch, but this particular example compared with my pulling highlights the difference. Maybe because it's with a weight that's not a million miles from what I could do rather than being 300+, but also because it looked SO easy off the floor it surprised me that there was a hitch.

So...what is the difference in peoples strengths that makes them:
A. Fast off the floor but with a slow lockout
B. Slow off the floor with a faster lockout (above knee onwards for me)

I know which I'd rather have, and I ain't got it! Unhappy

(sorry for hijack, again...Good lift mate!)

Cheers mate yeah my speed of the floor is really good but i struggle when it gets above the knee
I have been trying to improve this bt doing some 18inch pulls but i suppose its going to be along process
