» Sparrow Legs Strongman Training (Go to post)30-11-2008 @ 15:47
Cheers for having us down the Dungeon Jonny, solid training session for me, by far the best 300kg yoke "run" I've done. Also thanks for providing the entertainment on your Farmers Sprint but next time can you let us know in advance so we can get a camera set up. I have a picture of Mick's 2 x 200kg farmer's pick-up on my phone, if i can work out how to get it from phone to computer i will post it up. He made it look oh so easy!

Will see you in two weeks at the Push & Pull which you have convinced me to lift at (I didn't take much convincing), Kenny is going to lift too.Cool

Probably best for 2009 just to let the organisers get on with putting on quality qualifying events and then all interested parties to meet up at the England's or Britain's (day before, night of comp day, day after etc, whatever suits) to discuss the best way forward for 2010. Lets not forget that having 3 regional qualifiers is a step forward and we can build on it from here.

Nice vid Jonny, I was waiting right to the end expecting a "hidden" bonus vid.

Are you training events on Saturday as I can make it down if you are?

"I have offered to use our equipment at all areas as it is to the highest made standard by Tom (strongman equipment)

I have offered to haul the stuff from down here to the midlands then up north to lancaster"

Thats the first I've heard of this, its a very generous offer and it would be great to have all the comps standardised and I would be more than happy with that. I would still like to know the weights and events a lot more than 8 weeks in advance though.

Glad we are all in agreement. I will happily put people's bodyweight when posting the results up.

What is the score with the Southern events? A lad I know that made an enquiry was told the events at the Southern would be heavier than the rest because of the higher quality of the competitors. Confused
What is the reasoning for not releasing the events until 8 weeks before the comp?

Yeah, thats a good point JC. I think last year with the shorter notice for the comps there would have been more leeway. I can't see why there would be any need this year. Hopefully Jason and Scott will agree.

I will be weighing competitors in from 9am-11am on the morning of the comp' to give them every opportunity to make weight, but if they don't make it they don't lift, unless the other competitors are in agreement they can lift but their scores will not count and they will not be placed. I can't see the point in having a weight limit if it is not strictly adhered to, but on the other hand don't mind giving someone every chance of making it. Given how much notice there is for next year's comps there really shouldn't be any excuses not to make the weight.

Marc, how recently did you hear that about Les? I saw him at the Lanc Uni comp a few weeks ago and although not feeling 100% he was still planning on going to the Worlds. He suggested the NW qual would be the last weeked in Feb. If he has been unwell since then I hope he is okay and gets well soon.

Yeah, the log will be IFSA spec, I think the extra diameter makes a difference but then I'm not a log pressing monster like JC! I will be happy with one rep and delighted with two at the moment as it is my 1RM!

I might be 104.9kg by then Jamie.Wink

I am available for nutrition advice - Ste for bulking, JC for cutting. We have a suana you can use before the weigh-in JC but obviously I do not recommend such reckless behaviour!Wink

Jamie, I reckon Yorkshire counts as the North but appreciate that the Midlands might actually be a bit closer to to home for you. Would be good to see you at the Northern though mate.
