Mark, Friday 13th in the afternoon if that is okay.

Joni, should I bring the paper? Do I really want the inevitable piss-taking? When the photographer showed me the pics he'd taken there were a coupple of good ones but I knew they would choose the cheesy smile close-up! Yeah, I'll bring it.

Cheers Tony, yeah I will be glad when its all over but have enjoyed the process, will hopefully enjoy the day and am keen to start on planning another comp'... which will have a car deadlift and a truck-pull for sure.Happy

I will on BBC Radio Lancashire on Monday between 2.30 & 3.00 pm promoting the event, hopefully ill not make to much of a tool out of myself. Will get some media training from Joni & Millsy at the Dungeon tomorrow!

Also on the front page of the local rag today, cheesy picture but means we should have plenty of spectators and hopefully raise a good bit in donations for Cancer Care.

Guy, it really sucks that this has hit after training so hard, I really hope you are okay and well enough in time to compete, but make sure you put your health first.
» wanted 180 and 200kg atlas stone (Go to post)04-03-2009 @ 11:13
Mark H is a BDFPA/WDFPA champ/record holder etc. Lifts mainly with IAWA now and runs a training unit between Blackburn & Preston. I'm sure he will make stones for anyone Mark, I think the lightest he could do is about 130kg though because they are large moulds.

The day shouldn't be too long JC, while one event is happening Kenny (& crew) will be setting the next one up, the only brief natural interval will be for collating scores and setting the running order for the next event. Also, with the yoke on the Astroturf the turn-around will be very quick as they will only have to be re-set if someone doesn't finish.

I deadlifted to qualify for the Brit singles, I had competed in a stone lifting comp the day before though so only pulled 250kg & 275kg (missed 292.5kg)in the 100kg class.

45(ish) competitors, packed village hall as usual.

Great job on the interview lads! Great positive exposure (and I don't just mean Jonny's tight trousers).

Good luck tomorrow, hopefully plenty of PBs and some good footage and reports - still gutted to be missing it!

Yeah, it is mate, did you want it heavier?

Closing date for entries is March 2nd.

Axle deadlift height will be 11" from floor to bottom of the bar.

Top travel tip: Use Junction 34 not 33 off the M6 and follow the signs to Morecambe, you'll pick up the sign posts to Salt Ayre a lot easier that way and avoid going right through town.

Great lifting and vid, nice one.

Best use is straight after a training session, 25g isolate mixed with 75g dextrose (glucose C for asda, superdrug etc - about £1.20 for 450g), in my experience this is the most beneficial use of isolate - reduced soreness, faster recovery, no side effects if you follow it with a solid meal 45mins to an hour later (if you don't you may "crash" a bit).

Using it this way will give you a month or more of use, enough to gauge if it made any difference or not.
