14th January 2015 Squat 70kg*5 110kg*3 130kg*2 150kg*2 170kg*2 Strict press 70kg*1,2,2,2,2 Had something of a headache all the way through and the pressing proved to be the final straw - far too painful. Tidied up and went in. Slightly frustrated but also fairly satisfied that the squats felt very comfy, as they should after a couple of days' rest.

11th January 2015 Clean and push press 60kg*3 60kg*3 80kg*3 90kg*2 100kg*1 - eventually Struggled with the clean. Damp, bent axle and general weakness/effeminacy left me struggling. Even a continental felt tough. Turd. Paused squat 70kg*8 110kg*5 130kg*3 150kg 160kg Curls.

I think that lever belts can be an issue for log cleans for some people - it can catch on the lever.

5th January Ran 2.16 miles total - about 25 minutes. Felt reasonably good, though I'm not sure how long my 1970s squash shoes are going to survive the streets of Crewe.

I saw him on a TV thing doing a double bodyweight clean. It was pretty good, but then you'd expect him to be explosive, quick and coordinated - that's pretty damn important for triple jump!

Now the depth may not have been IPF, but it was pretty good, and obviously he can pass a drug test or two. Basically what I'm thinking is, especially at lighter bodyweights, would proper athletes destroy powerlifting wrs if they weren't busy making money and being popular. The dude was called John Paul, but I'm on my phone and don't know how to link the vid I have no idea what was being shown, but I had a conversation with Shanaze Reade once (the Olymic BMX competitor). She stated that Chris Hoy squatted 200kg, which was considered impressive. Probably because it is,all things considered. I can't comment on the video you've seen, but I'd take that as a better yardstick, and indication of what a proper athlete can do.

My five (ish) lifting points: 1. 119 training sessions logged. About 150 in total, nearly all involving squats. 2. Lost more weight to decrease fatness and increase longevity. 3. Got a bit less damaged. 4. Erm... 5. I'll get back to this one. |
