» Britain's strongest man 2016 (Go to post)30-01-2016 @ 12:33
Any updates would be welcome (once it's started of course).

My money is on an obvious winner, but I would also like to see Felix do well. On the couple of occasions I have met him he has always seemed like such a genuinely nice guy and such an extraordinary talent. For me he is very much the face of the sport that I want to see.

Turkey hache sounds just dire.

I presume they are the same as 'steak hache' served in France - basically a steak made of minced up beef. I am not sure of the cut used, but I think it may well be different than that used over here in mince (usually clod.

I would cook it as a steak. Let it sit at room temperature for an hour before cooking, then cook it quickly/sear, rest, then eat. Don't overcook it, and make sure to have chips with it!

» Effect on size and strength after 3 weeks no training? (Go to post)30-08-2015 @ 21:31
Nope.

I regularly used to go away for 4 weeks and not train. I found that it took a couple of weeks to get back to where I was. Moreover, it made me hungry to train again.
» Which WSM competitors have you 'competed' against? (Go to post)16-08-2015 @ 00:21
Alex Curletto, Bish, Lee Bowyer and, most amusingly, Ed Hall. It's amusing because I think I drew with him on the deadlift (Northwich, maybe 2009?). In all fairness, he was about 12 but it's fair to say he's progressed since then!

With regards to this issue, I think Mendes is more or less an irrelevance. He has tried to go down that route in a country where WADA testing etc is properly carried out and there is an cultural drive to keep some sports 'clean.' The real issue is of course those states where this obviously isn't the case, and there is more or less active collusion.

I don't disagree with the fact he had talent at all. I am sure that we could have endless debates about how much etc, but it's now a moot point.

What does concern me is where he will end up diverting his energies. It's clear that lifting is pretty much the core of his existence, and it has now pretty much gone.

no talent? thought he was US champ and his 800lb oly squat vid is pretty impressive.
he'd certainly make an exceptional 140/SHW PL and would go close to 1000kg raw based on his peak numbers, which is a strength sport that offers untested competition.

I'm afraid my obese fingers must have got the better of me. I meant to say 'some.' Thankfully, you seem to be the only person who actually read what I typed!
