I think the term 'strongman heights' is sometimes used in a pejorative sense. I once stood in a line up for competition where every competitor (myself included) had stated they were 6ft+, much to the amusement of the crowd, who could see that it patently wasn't the case. I will however say that I'm pretty sure that Ed is genuinely 6ft 3. He might just look shorted as he becomes increasingly cubic. Someone here said 180kg recently I think?

Sparrow said:Trying my best Jon boy! I'm putting no pressure on myself - I just want to dust the cobwebs off - can't believe it's been 4 years since my last comp! That'll be Karl Grant, James - an amazing display of lifting from him. I think all my strongman t-shirts have gone now. Of course it was! It was quite late when I posted that I think. Either that or I am going senile?! I recall a pretty phenomenal showing from him at the 'push pull' too. 200kg C&J I think? Then a pretty impressive beltless deadlift too.

Sparrow said: However, one of my most satisfying performances was the Unit 20 'Heavier' comp, where we had 120 axle for reps, 370 yoke, 160 farmers, 64kg DB and MAX 15" pull - I performed to the best of my ability there as I completed all events and gave a good showing of myself - I only finished a few points behind Mark Lawson, who was a full on BEAST at the time. That's a blast from the past. I remember a few things from that. The 120kg*12 from the guy whose name escapes me was pretty amazing. I still have the T shirt!

The_Lone_Wolf said: This. They used to be cheaper, but MF are great at marketing and putting up prices on the sly. I only ever get chicken from them now, and some mince when it is on offer. The chicken is sourced from eastern Europe and I'd rather buy British meat, so may stop using them all together to be honest. I had a delivery from MF on Friday just gone and 3 out of 4 bags of chicken breasts were split. Marvelous! I get my steak and beef from Great British meat these days. All the meat they sell is British yet the chicken is a touch more expensive. It is crazy that it is cheaper to import chicken from Europe like MF do than it is to buy it from the UK. I purchased 10kg of bavette steak from Great British meat the other day as it was on offer for £5.90 per kilo. It is so good! Bavette is sold over here as beef skirt. For whatever insane reason, we don't seem to go for it in the UK, whilst it's very popular in France. I think it might actually be my favourite cut. Fibrous and tasty - real meat should need to be chewed I feel!
