Very well done on getting 9 lifts and the record Pete! It was a pleasure to talk to you and good luck on your hash brown mission.

GBPF NW Championships 2014

Had to lose a fair bit of weight for this. Dropped 10lbs between 6:30pm Friday and the weigh in at 10am Saturday which was pretty tough. Ended up weighing in at 104.4kg so overshot it a touch. With about 3 hours before I squat I ended up having just about enough time to re-hydrate and have a little food, don't think I could have hacked losing any more weight than I did.

Squats
Had a 220 opener which I screwed up, lost my balance a touch on the way down and just didn't get deep enough, 2 red lights. Decided to take the 220 again and got it, 3 whites. Took 240 for my last lift and got 3 whites again. Glad to hit 240 in a comp, felt a little pissed I didn't get a shot at 250 as I think I'd have stood a good chance.

Bench
Took an easy 155 opener. Second lift was 170, hard but I thought I stood a chance at 180, which was my third lift. Just missed the 180 at lockout, very close.

Deads
260 opener went up fine. Second lift was 280 which was hard, but not desperate. 290 would get me a 700 total so that's what I took for my last lift. Thanks to Pete shouting at me from the sidelines I eventually locked this out and got 2 whites Grin Very happy.

Stuff to think about
At the place I train the squat rack is in front of a mirror, it feels awkward squatting without one and I think this is what threw me on the opener. Bench will sort itself out when my arm stops playing up. I got a red on deads as one of the judges didn't think my knees were locked out properly so that needs looking at. I might also need to look at my knees locking out before I start the squat.

Thanks to the organises and loaders / spotters, good to meet some of the crowd that were lifting today, a lot of sound people. Overall it was a great day and I think I got the Yorkshire North East M1 105 Squat, Deadlift and total records:

Nice squat pb! Bad luck on the rest of the session :/ It's s**t when your usual routine is broken, it often effects my lifts, especially when you chuck in a lack of sleep and manual work. Eat and rest up if you can, what you weighing in at?

Picked up a small tweak in my lower back on Friday which has been getting better since then. I could tell it was there on squats and deads but nothing bad was going on, just got to get through the week without making it any worse Grin
