On the viking press is like normal facing the weight or have you got to stand with your back to it like at worlds last year when they pressed the quadbikes?

I would say 3/4 comps or less unless you came in top 3 in any novice comp you have done.

Being heavier is an advantage, but not that much to be honest, same as for truck pull.
Regardless, that's the beauty of strongman. So you get smashed hy a 400lber on a truck pull, make sure you train your strengths and run rings around him on the loading / farmers. That's why there are 5 / 6 events.

Ye i understand where your coming from. Only said him because i know hes huge. Everyone will have their better events. Its my first opens i have only done novice before. Im just goin to enjoy myself n see where i come.

Tell that to Mikey Lane last year who came second at 110kg.

Who did he come second to paul amor haha. Joking aside im Not trying to get out of doin the event but just my opinion is it naturally going to favour the beasts that are way heaveir than the majority of the competion. I have never done an arm over arm so either way its gonna be a first go at it for me.

Thanks for informing us. Only thing with tug of war is the body weight differences in competitors is huge. you have got Paul Amor and 165kg and the likes of Dane Taylor at 106kg the heavest guy is gonna win no matter how strong you are. Just my opinion. But if everyone pulls same weight no one can argue it.
