Might have to take part in this, since as of Sept I'll be a student at Manchester.
Need to get the numbers up, however.

Yeah I don't know what happened there, making weight in amateur boxing has become a bit of a joke - fighters let themselves go a bit up until their early 20s and they can gain "permanent" weight fairly easy. Also they should be kept within a certain range, to simply lose some water weight and get it back since they are morning weighins for evening fights. And in an endurance sport like boxing, you really don't want to go in dehydrated.

I don't know if this is the real reason.

well he's 21.
he qualified LAST YEAR about 10 months ago at lightweight, he may have just grown a bit anyway, and training hard for 10 months he could have gained some muscle weight, which you can't lose for a weighin especially when its same day weighins like amateur boxing.

I really feel sorry for the lad.
He's had a lot of pro offers from promoters though including Oscar De La Hoya's company (big cheese in boxing if you don't follow) so I'm sure his talented won't go to waste.

Decent session today, deadlift form.

DL
60x5
100x5
140x1 - stiff legged it, no starting leg power.

so did
100x2 x 4sets, focusing on leg drive, these went well.
120x1

Then did
Hang cleans, focusing on form again since they are a cool exercise.
40x6
50x5
60x1, 60x1

Tricky s**t but a productive day.

did hanging leg raises x 10, russian twists with 5kg x 20, 2 circuits

also did some pushdowns because I have sore elbows today.

Try eating normal quantities, but eat protein and fat mainly, you don't need to starve yourself.
Are you on steroids? Probably not, so you don't need to faff around with clean cuts of meat and all that jazz.
If you just want to shift some weight, only have carbs post workout, see how that goes after a couple weeks.
To fill up, eat meat, eggs, nuts, green veg, fruit. fish, too.

bit of conditioning
50 burpees in about 4 minutes, pr by 1 minute.

lobbing old melons over the roof into field x 2, failed on the 3rd rep, it hit the low wall around the roof. will be a right mess to clean up tommorow.
