Having my weights sets and reps in advance stops me from silliness and I guess over the years looking back...a cycle of injury and no progress.

Very sensible mate, definitely the way forward

28/1/18

5 mins bike

Strict log
Bar x 12 x 2
40 x 5
80 x 8 x 3 sets - Didn't feel great today, but up from last week on reps, so can't complain. Back didn't like it today

Bench
Bar x 15
60 x 8
80 x 3
100 x 3
125 x 3 x 5 sets

Back was getting worse between every set, in pretty bad pain by the end. Unusual for bench, don't think been in the car 4 hours and sitting in a squashed arena at bsm for 41/2 hours last night has helped me out today

That was eddies other 'slide'. Which yeh everyone does a little one over the line. The one I'm talking about was about 2/3 through the course

Just got back and really enjoyed it. Was very well run, good arena, a few dodgy reffing decisions imo, originally deducted Paul 2 seconds for sliding with the yoke (Magnus), then hall done it once and not a word was said. Seemed to credit Paul with his original time eventually though looking at the results when they came up, hopefully was off the back of someone mentioning it Ed got away with it. Hicks was majorly hard done by (Magnus again) on the forward hold, saw athletes who come before him holding it miles lower and he was letting it go, then hixxy was penalised for been low when he looked perfectly horizontal, walked off fuming by the looks of it.
Terry was great tonight, seemed a lot happier in himself than he normally portrays, was great to see him podium.
Paul set a new world record for the forward hold, but they didn't once mention what the time was. Got to get a worlds invite off the back of tonight, fully deserves it.
Ed didn't seem himself, obviously had a niggle going on, but wasn't his usual loud and showman type personality tonight, felt like we rarely saw him, literally done his events and went back inside, just seemed different, but still bossed it.

Apart from the couple sat next to us who f**kin reeked all night whilst one was in and out of sleep and the other was knitting it was a great night. And no, they weren't old, 40 at most!

Yeh I did mate looks like it's coming!
Fair play, close grip looks good. I feel the same, I always try to utilise my tris more than anything on any given exercise, they seem to be my strongest muscle, and the only one to not yet break on me lol

Don't forget Mr Smith was in touching distance of a worlds spot last year before last event if I remember rightly!

What's the plan behind only close grip bench out of curiosity mate?

Nice to see you posting regular again.

Thanks mate, feeling happy at the moment. Think getting down the gyms helping with that.

Yeh hopefully back training should sort it out, definitely didn't notice it when I use to squat/deadlift heavy and regular, but can see it by a country mile now. Think it's the last 6 months of really bad pain I was often limping with it all day at work, and that was the side I limped from, so probably got mega weak in the process. Will have it sorted in the next couple of months hopefully

24/1/18

5 mins bike

SSB squat beltless
Bar x 12 x 2
40 x 5
60 x 10 x 3 sets

Leg extensions
4 sets of 10

Single leg extension on left leg
Couple of sets of 5/6 and negatives

The physio found out my left hip is a lot weaker than my right so trying to strengthen it up, also trying to lead more with my left leg for a while on squats and notice how much quicker it fatigues

Leg curls
4 sets of 15

Left it there, ham curls seems to aggravate my back. All good though, happy

Haven't got a figure in mind mate no, like you say the main thing is my back not going again, and that's the only important thing to me, any numbers is an added bonus. To be honest all of last year I'd never have thought I'd deadlift anything again so 40k puts a smile on my face. I think your right though, 60k would be easier, as my core is automatically tighter etc when it's a bit heavier, it's easy to be too loose when it's light and get caught out.

Anyway, if I had to choose a number, even 180 would be absolutely amazing for the future lol
