Football and carp fishing (hobby)! The last couple of years I've really enjoyed watching tennis matches, use to think they were a little boring but love em now!

I've just finished reading Dan Browns "Inferno"

I'm now on Dean koontz "Odd apocalypse"

And my next book will probably be another Dean koontz one, want to read them all at some point or another

AMG said:I have been laying 6 inch blocks all week. I'm sick to f**king deaf of people saying you will not need to go the gym laying them as it will make you strong. NO, dumb ass lifting heavy weights will make me stronger not a block all day continuously.

I'm not trying to say that It would make you stronger. But been a brickie you will naturally have more stamina, stronger forearm (whichever trowel arm it is) an harder skin/grip compared to someone who types at a computer all day. I use to be on the od years ago and it kept me a s**t load fitter than I realised back then

I'm not getting at people been stronger because of been in an active job etc, I'm just curious as to how if any people adapt things to suit their jobs. As like I said, I use to have about 1500 calories a day more and couldn't put on weight, yet now it's flew on, so I've had to adapt my diet to suit my job as well as my training to an extent

I don't know if this kind of threads been done before, but was wondering, what are your jobs?
And more importantly, what effect do you think it has had on your strength/training?

Has it helped to keep your fitness up to a certain degree? Has it given you a platform to start off with been strong?

Me been a builder all my life it helped with fitness to a certain degree and definitely stamina. Also some strength, but I was burning too many calories per day at work to be able to put much more weight on, yet I was a bit more trim.
Then since I've had a "promotion" and I'm supervising, I don't do manual graft half as much, but I walk about 10 - 15 mile a day around site checking on the lads. But because of the time in the office I've put on about 6 kilo which is fine, but I've lost a hell of a lot of stamina.

So your job can play a pivotal role in your goals of training, how does your job affect yours?

Another one in agreement with Dom, although I did hit a pb last week in the heat lol, but I think that was purely down to having a coffee just before which I never usually do, works a treat!
» What food do you take to work? (Go to post)14-07-2013 @ 21:01
I normally have a shake and brand flakes before I leave at 6.00 in the morning then 6 scrambled egg ( 2 yokes) with 2 brown bread toast at 9.30ish then chicken carrots and brown rice cooked in a curry paste/sauce of some kind. An apple and a shake when I finish at half 4. Then tea :-)

walker said:I think the whole Novice concept is flawed. The comps should be graded on weight.

How many comps means you're no longer a Novice? 3,4,5? 10? Nobody knows. Even if you win you might not be strong enough for Inters so it leaves people in limbo or no mans land. I'm not strong enough to do anything other than Novice, I'm too heavy for 105 and too weak for Inters or heavier.

The gradings should be along the lines of:

First Timers (self explanatory)
Light
Intermediate
Heavy
Pro

And then the weight classes..

Just my opinion!

I agree with this for what it's worth
