Brilliant Vid Mike . I want to get involved ...
I would like to go to an Olympic weightlifting club once a week and have a go . I don't want to put anybody out or have anybody have to change their plans to accommodate me, I just want to operate quietly in the corner ... I'm stuck for somewhere to go at the moment , I suppose Mark Becks CrossFit would be best solution.

Just woke up to this mate

I offered yesterday when we spoke, which is a bit cheeky of me to be honest as I should ask Terry first

I will speak to him today when I train and if it's okay I can pick you up and drop you off

It is on the way from where I live now Happy

» weight stuck where it is, any ideas?? (Go to post)17-01-2012 @ 17:12
Give it another two weeks and weigh yourself again

You may be pleasantly surprised if you just keep doing what you are doing
» Log Press (Go to post)17-01-2012 @ 17:05
Whichever you feel is a weakness and will transfer well

Just my opinion

No, you are correct, they are not fat grip
However, Mike couldnt clean 135 at the SA comp, which he put down to the handles, as he normally can!?
I dont care TBH....but a situ were some refuse/show displeasure at using one of the logs, is a situ to be avoided if posible I'd imagine

I will gladly use that log again in reality, I would hope to get 135kg this time

» Knee(s) coming in on squats (Go to post)17-01-2012 @ 13:21
haydnward said:this happens alot with my clients, either they come onto their balls of their feet, or there knees turn in, or both. 2 basic tips that improve form and the ammount you can move comfortably:
1) drive into the heels
2) spread the floor with your feet/force your knees over and inline with your toes

i find going slightly wider with your feet helps alot as well, just some ideas.
i found following the 2 steps above my strenght increased but more importantly, the squats i did with my curretn weights were fully in my control and solid movements

Are any of you clients experienced lifters?

For beginners your advice is solid, and sticking to basic ideas is never a bad thing

Yeah, with it being first event everyone should be able to warm-up no probs anyway. After the SA Classic I'm confident the event will run just fine.Happy

Correct!!!

Re logs though, most of the guys that were failing were on the right one (fat grip SA one) where JC was reffing and a few couldn't clean it (like me)

Leave it with you

The reason I have posted the above is this far toms physio treatment has been self funded
» Tom's training log... (Go to post)17-01-2012 @ 13:02
On a more pragmatic line if you speak to your gp and show him what the physio suspects... the scan and further nhs funded diagnosis and treatment should be a logical progression

Progress!

Ben_F said:Fat grip log - LOL!

We'll match them as best we can... they'll both be JT logs anyway.

Bagsy the one with thinner handles!

If you do a line up you don't need to give many of the guys time to warm up as they will be lifting the lighter attempts
