Load up a dip plate with a pair of 20kg plates and you shall have an insight into my life Cool

Dream on petal Tongue

I do bar dips with 20kg plates, fortunately I've only got a nubbin, so no risk of being 'pinched' haha Grin

Looked bloody smooth and strong though!
» Anyone experience of hurting their lower back (mainly around the L4/L5)?! (Go to post)10-01-2017 @ 16:54
How did you get on with it in/around training and how long did it affect you?!

I appear to have damaged the facet joint in my L4/L5 region; staying away from any lower back or legs training for 3-4 weeks, minimum

I've looked up all sorts of stretching exercises to do, so will do those to try and keep myself as pliable as possible, but this f**ker hurts and it's the first time I've really hurt my back this way (had other mid/upper back niggles, but never lower back)! Angry

Any suggestions/thoughts?!

Don't rule it out as pain can 'refer'...!

Read up on bursitis, tendinitis etc...

Strength_MM said:Hello Everyone! Whats up? I did zercher squats yesterday from the floor. That meant that i first picked up the bar and rested it on my thighs, around two 2 inches away from the knees. When going to bed last night I realised that there was a lump on my left thigh exactly where i placed the bar. I couldn't see it but if i placed my finger around i could feel it. Did anyone else get it? I am using zercher squat for several weeks now. Is it normal and will it go away? It is painful only if i press on it.

Thanks for reading!! Have a good day.

Sounds about the norm to me

If you're not sore; then don't worry about it... You've just had a fair bit of weight sat across your thighs in very small/direct areas!

As above

But, I'd also suggest you see an osteopath as doctors are generally useless in this arena and will tell you to stop training and then fart about with a referral which will take months!

I'd say if you're not in pain, you've a flexor that's not firing somewhere, or a trapped/angered facet joint in your back which needs releasing!

This in turn isn't painful, but it can do to you what's happening now!

An osteo will correct this with a few sessions of manipulation (of both your back and wallet) Wink Grin and may look around your neck area too, as this can cause all sorts of back issues, without you realising!

More than likely bursitis Pete

Read up on this and how to treat it!

I suffer badly with both elbows, right more than left

Fatty acids and glucosomine with chondroitin to aid recovery, wear neoprene sleeves when you can to keep the area(s) warm when training etc

Yup... Leverage points can be a t**t when you work them out and ruin your ego lol Grin

A few gyms I know have the car deadlift set up; you hear em all bragging how they can lift a car... They s**t it when you tell em it's only around 160-180kg in the hand because of the leverage point and the fact that it's really only a lock out Roll-Eyes Grin

Same with the gym I mainly train at; great viking press, but when you figure out what weights in hand, it's a kick in the nuts! Unhappy

In some gyms they're probably big numbers...

Others, it'll be run of the mill!

Don't be overly impressed by what you see, just smash the weights yourself and enjoy the numbers going up! Wink

On bench, yes!

After normal benching of course... Those as well as bench lockouts, slingshot and floor presses

Defecit pulls for deads, if you're brave enough...!

6ft 4 and generally 21-22 stone is more than enough for me

Struggle with clothes, struggle with cars (either too narrow, no head room or door cards/b-pillars get in the way etc), struggle like hell on planes and busses are a joke in Preston, no legroom at all!
