connermorgan said:Thanks everyone for the advice. I think it helps when I put my feet on the bench because im about 5 foot 7 and cant get much leg drive from the floor so by putting my feet on the bench it helps. Put plates under your feet; raise the ground height to suit your needs! ![]()

Step away from the bench; hammer heavy flat bench dumbbell presses and more incline presses for a while, this and strict OH pressing too! I got stuck on bench for ages (180kg); couldn;t get passed it and it took me an age to get there! I left it alone and did the above for a good few months, did some bench lock-out work too and managed to get 187.5kg on the first week back of benching! Oh, put your feet on the floor too... Good boy ![]()

If you've any dark bruising; I'd personally go and see a decent sports physio ASAP so they can assess what it is you've done, maybe have a look with an ultrasound and then advise you from there! I'd leave any stretching for the time being, could open up the tear more!

Post Edited: 29.10.2016 @ 14:50 PM by hifilover As aboveSee how it goes over the next 48 hours or so If it starts to go black, it's a deepish tear, if just light bruising, not too bad, if no bruising at all, probably superficial and just ease off heavy squats/deads and hamstring stuff until you're happy with how it feels! Torn my right ham a few times now, nothing ever too serious, but it comes back to haunt me every so often, more so on axle deads for some unknown reason ![]()

Keep yourself as hydrated as possible, try and get some electrolytes in you but stay away from the hydralite s**te from the supermarkets as its full of s**tty sweetners etc! Try and eat, but very light, little & often. Thin soups, plain crackers etc! Good luck

Haha, I'm 134kg, that's enough ta ![]() Na, I've buggered my left shoulder/neck again, so bench has been all about reps and not out and out maxes ![]() Did manage 177.5kg for 2 paused reps the other week, but 180kg just seems to not want to go...! But last weeks benching was s**t, managed x3 paused reps with 157.5kg and it's like someone had turned a magnet on underneath, felt so heavy!

» Maintaining strength whilst dropping bodyweight (Go to post) | 27-09-2016 @ 17:28
I did it last year; dropped from 142kg to 126kg (back to 132kg now haha) Hit the cardio (stationary bike, walking and cross-trainer thingymebob), hard, but short and sweet (no more than 30mins at a time & everuy session bar legs (so 3 times a week)); cut carbs out after lunchtime, cut dairy and wheat right back, ate plenty of green veg, hammered eating meats (I'm not really a protein supplement user), drank loads of fluid, but maintained my heavy lifting on core exercises (bench, squats, deads, OH strict & push-press etc) Didn't lose any strength at all; but I did do it over a 12 week period and was strict from the word go! |
