Post Edited: 06.09.2008 @ 12:41 PM by stephen Had to miss fri session so had a wee mess around strongman session this morning.8" Log: 45x6 (1 clean) 70x5 (1 clean) 95x3 (1 clean) 110x1clean 110x1clean+failed press (couldn't lock out the last few inches with my left arm ) 120x1clean (tough!) 100x3 (clean each rep) 90x5 (1 clean) FW Deadlift(handles at top of knee(weight stated each hand)): 45x5reps 85x2reps 115x1rep 130x1 140x1rep 150x1rep with 15 sec hold, think this is a pb for time with 300kg in hands usually only get 10-12sec(which is a struggle). Think I could have got into the 20's if at a comp setting. Droped height of handles to 3" below knee: 120x7metres tore a callus, game over Stone: 1 set: 90x1 - 105x5 (no chalk or tacky used) Tyre flip: 240ishx6 Lower back burning up abit so lugged everything back into the shed.

buzz said: 51" as always dude, or can load to the barrel (48") if you prefer? Comp sounds no bad. Can folk lift unequipped in it? Is SPA a tested/drug-free fed? Just so I can let the other's at unit20 know What's the age limitations as well? Is it 23+?[/qu 48" 1st then 51". Lifting unequipped is fine but a singlet will need to be worn. It is drug tested. Seniors is 23-40 but they'll allow younger's and even old f**kers like you to compete no problem. You maybe could let Camy and your other junior strongmen know that the scottish juniors is in 3weeks time in Glasgow along with the bench comp, I can get more info and entry forms if they want.

buzz said: Aye man, still trying to keep you youngsters on your toes Head to head on the 140 sounds good! It's onnnn Will defo try and make the seniors. Do you have any other info on it? What sort of level of dudes are we talking here? Is it a BWLA comp?? Bring it on! Although no silly platform heights. The powerlifting comp is an SPA ONE(affiliated to BWLA)so same rules ie single ply equipment, singlet, deadlift socks etc required, just need to join SPA(£20) and entry £15, I'll forward you an entry form when I receive one or I'll get an email /number for you to contact the event organiser. Don't worry about the level of people competing there's usually a good mix, from 1st timers to old veterans and people lifting both unequipped and equipped. Comps are always good to give your training some focus!

buzz said: stephen said: Was planning to just take it easy with strongman and just try nailing technique but will try organising a unit20 or dumbarton jaunt in a few weeks or so, need to keep tabs on you! Hows the knee? Sounds good man! Knee is ok thanks, kind of gave up on the physio as they weren't doing f**k all, and instead just take ibuprofen before training now Reckon I'm back up to about 90% strength on most stuff (apart from back squats probably), and higher on some random s**t. Loaded the 129 stone for the first time last week (though i've done the 135 (a bit smaller diameter and a touch 'easier' possibly) before once) and was close to nailing the 140 which would probably be my first PB of the year Comeback is on though! Hopefully see you soon! When/where is the Scottish seniors? I will try and make it along! s**t sounds like your making progress again I better get a move on! That's good that your trainings picking up. Maybe you'll nail the 140kg when I head through, I wouldn't mind a wee go as well. Seniors is the 3rd or 4th of nov(i think ) and it will be in grangemouth so not too far would be good to see you there maybe even talk some of the unit20 regulars into giving it ago?

buzz said: Decent lifting as always man. Time to get your arse through to the unit tho, or otherwise maybe hook up with you at Dumbarton for a sesh sometime? Cheers Brian, hopefully start pushing things again on the lead up to the scottish seniors. Was thinking of putting on all the gear well in advance(maybe start next week) instead of 2/3weeks from the comp like I usually do, just to see how I get on . Was planning to just take it easy with strongman and just try nailing technique but will try organising a unit20 or dumbarton jaunt in a few weeks or so, need to keep tabs on you! Hows the knee? Training tonight:- Squats(light): 20x6 70x5 120x5 150x5 150x5 150x5 Bench press: 20x8 70x5 100x5 120x5 120x5 120x5 Deadlift (from the knee): 120x5 170x3 210x2 250x1 280x1 300x1(hold for 10secs) 250x5 Very hot in the gym tonight, really enjoyed the deadlifts from the knee hope they help get my floor deads moving! |
