» Highland games, who has done them? (Go to post)03-07-2012 @ 09:32
martinb said:Highland games is weird, there are events all over Scotland all the time, but you never hear about them IN SCOTLAND, but yet look on Ironmind and they seem to be a massive deal

It is one of the things I would like to try next year, but I don't really know where you would go about training for it

Start looking here http://www.albagames.co.uk/ or contact Dougie Edmonds or Hamish Davidson? I think your the ideal shape for highland games and throwing because of your long levers and height.

Benvie said:Nice axle work mate, are you gonna be doing the arnolds qualifier with you training duck walk/power stairs?

Cheers, no man can't make that comp either as I'm working Unhappy , just took axel down as it was easier to carry and was trying to simulate power stairs as John is doing BSM u105kg but we were destroying a box and the steps outside so decided just to do a few runs with duck walk, the others went heavier obviously.
» Playing at it! (Go to post)29-06-2012 @ 19:47
Due to the s**t weather, took some stuff down to Glencairn gym for some training with Nik, John, Martin and 2 new guys but I forget there names.

Axel:

31x10
71x6
91x5
101x5
101x5
103.5x3 miss loaded, extra 2.5kg on one side messed me up as I thought I was off centre.

Bit of plactice for power stairs with a 140-180 duck walk with a few 180 duck walk runs, stupid finger injury was hurting though so never went heavier.

Tried 120kg farmers timed hold but stupid finger injury was hurting so just put them down at 10secs or so.

D/B O/H/P:

30x5 ftoh
50x5
60x1 failed on 2nd but close.

Good fun session with everyone with lots of piss taking. Grin

Couple of guys I train with are doing it. John Pollock, Graeme Main & Nik Thompson, not sure if they've phoned Stuart to confirm yet though?

Yeah was great fun. Yourself and Leggiez should give it ago next year, even just to hear Andy on the mic. Grin

Quick bit of training at Glencairn alone.

Squat:

20x10
70x6
120x5
170x3
195x5
195x5
195x5

All easy enough.

Flat bench:

20x10
70x10
100x5
120x5
120x5
120x5

All easy enough. Think I might try and get my bench back up to were it was a few years ago and hopefully beyond seeing as I'm a good bit heavier in bw now.

Strong work mate. Not sure it can be classed as raw when using straps on deadlift? Wink Grin
