Went to a mate's gym today. Really basic. 2 power racks, couple of bars, a deadlift bar, bumper plates, dumbbells and some cardio equipment. It's upstairs in a building and hidden out of the way.

Close Grip Bench (Being really causious with shoulder)
60kgx5
80kgx3
100kgx1
120kgxshoulder popped out
100kgx4

Front Squats
60kgx5
80kgx3
90kgx3
100kgx1
90kgx2
-wasn't feeling these today

Power Cleans
worked up to an easy single with 80kg

Found a deadlift bar so...
140kgx1
160kgx1
180kgx1
200kgx2
180kgx2
I forgot how good it is to deadlift on a proper deadlift bar!

Fat Bar Pull Ups
3sets, forearms were tight as hell after this!

I am going back again on Friday to train with some of the lads there. I am going to make the effort to get there once or twice a week, I had fun training and just did what I wanted instead of following a set list of exercises Happy

I would have to dispute this. Trolling is an art, it is far from easy to do well. This guy was far to dim to be trolling, he was just a half wit. A very offensive half wit.

If you listen to him speak or even correspond with him, he is far from it. Trolling is as much of an art as peeing your name in the snow. You seem to be judging a person on what he posted on the internet when he was a teen. I guess first impressions are lasting...

Deadlifts
worked up to 200kg for 2 singles, felt slow

Smith Rows
3sets fairy light

Lat Pull Downs
used the straight bar and barely any weight and shoulder still hurt

Changed to the V bar and felt a little better

Seated Rows
Managed the stack for a few sets of 8, shoulder still sore

I'm going to drop the weight light and rebuild Unhappy

Eric Lillibridge, who is also doing the same comp (along with his dad and brother). Eric is 22 years old. All 3 of them pull over 800lb!

His recent training leading up to this comp:

I'm not saying he didn't deserve the critisizm he recieved, as I said, he admitted later in an interview it was largely his own fault. On other sites however he was attacked simply for being fat.

As for it being worth while. Maybe not to alot of people, but the simple fact that at a young age he had a goal and went to such an extreme and became so dedicated to achieve it (not an easy goal either), I think is fantastic.

21, he still gets some grief, not as much as before, because of the way he looks now compared to before. George made the most of his teen years and focused on eating big and getting strong, can't argue with the results

This blokes awesome

He has some good videos, there is one called "Late night rambling" going on about motivation and why he went to such drastic measures.

He got a lot of grief on other forums as well, he admitted in an interview that it was largely his own doing for being a dick. In the same token, he was 17-18 at the time, I know I was a prat at that age, I still am now Tongue

Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't George Leeman the fat kid that threw the bench?

Aye that's the one, now 308lb and lean, repping 835 deadlift for 3 reps with straps. His grip is meant to be holding up well. Stan and his friend are paying for George to fly out to compete as well as his hotel and food. Not just for the comp in November but also a deadlift comp at the Olympia

Here is his transformation video

In a recent video he was saying he is just shy of 310lb and in a few weeks he will be repping 500lb on bench.

Eric made it look easy!

Off the top of my head Stand has pressed 600+ in a few comps and I'm sure he has pulled 830+ in the last week or so in training.

The Lillibridge family are meant to be competing, as well as George Leeman who is 21 and doing some freaky lifts in training!

I agree with kirkynick, it takes a hell of alot of practise and repetition to get the basic skills down.

You will get used to taking kicks and punches, it just takes a while.

He is planning on hitting a 2300lb total in knee wraps and a belt soon. At the same comp, Eric Spoto is planning to beat the Mendelson's 715lb bench. As well as a number of people who are meant to be deadlifting over 800lb.
