No worries Adam, hope you're fit to compete soon. Keep your eyes peeled next year as there will be another comp at the same venue, probably this time next year.

The reason we've swapped the silver dollar deadlift in the novices to an axle deadlift is : a) because of the number of entrants, the silver dollar in both classes would take a long time. b) We want to keep the novices on a head to head basis to keep the day flowing and as it stands, the opens have 3 individual events, the wooden log press, silver dollar deadlift and the stones. Sorry if any novices have been left disappointed by this, but we had to make the decision to ensure the day runs smoothly and keeps everyone happy. If all goes well, then this will be a regular event. Thanks for your cooperation. Gibby

Also, due to the costs involved with having such a good venue, I need to have entry fees in before the end of December to cover necessary costs. If for some reason you have sent your entry fee and it is not shown on the list, then contact me immediately, either ring me on 07875579122 or e-mail me at gibbynutrition@hotmail.co.uk If you're having trouble getting to a post office during work hours and would prefer to transfer money into my account, then please message me for details. Thanks Guys Gibby

It'll be cold, but we've got the luxury of heating in the hangar on the day, so should be ok.

No problem Hywel, on the day in the warm up area, there'll be a log, farmers walk frames, yolk and a stone to practice with before hand, just to get the feel of it and work on your technique. Not ideal prep for yourself, but better than just going in blind. Also, feel free to ask the more experienced guys or any of our loaders on the day for tips and advice. This will be a good first comp for you. As for the lads coming from up North, I'm on the case with a few hotels and B+Bs, just trying to negotiate the best deals for you. Cheers Gibby

I'm looking at getting a couple of local hotels on board as sponsors to give special rates to competitors. Should have this sorted by next week and I'll post the prices on here. Alternatively, I've been given permission to let competitors camp at the venue!! This is probably just for the VERY brave and those with all the thermal gear. But it is an option for those on a budget, I'll have the keys Friday night to let anyone in and there are also brand new showers on site, all indoors. Drop me a line as regards hotels, as the more numbers I have, then the better the deal I'll have from the hotel. Cheers Gibby

Hi Guys, both Novices and Opens are now full. We have 18 Novices and 16 Opens. The Novices will be going head to head in each event now. The running order will be alternated, ie. Novice event first, then Opens and so on, culminating with the Opens Celtic stones (Atlas stones) to finish. This gives all competitors ample rest between events and keep spectators entertained throughout. As regards entry fees, I regularly edit the competitors list on page 4 of the threads and state whose fees I've received. If anyone has sent their postal orders off over 4 days ago and are not on the list, then please let me know. I have a reserve list now for both classes, so until I receive your entry fees, your place is not guaranteed. If for some reason it's awkward to get to a Post Office due to work and you wish to transfer money into my account, then please let me know. Thankyou all for your help and support so far Cheers Gibby

Guys, I'm over the moon with the response we've had in just a week and there's guys from all over the UK competing which is fantastic. In fact, there are only 2 what I'd call local guys from Carmarthen entered. Many thanks to those who have entered, as you can see in my post above, the competition is fierce both in the Opens and the Novices. It's gonna be a great day.

Hi Guys, straps to be allowed on the silver dollar deadlift in both classes, so we can see some big weight shifted. As regards the height for loading the stones, that will be decided this weekend. Also, if you can't get hold of me on my mobile 07875579122, then contact my colleague Anthony Collins on 07581335969. So far, an unbelievable response and great feedback. We've filled 8 slots in each class so far, so don't leave it too late and end up disappointed. Get your entries and postal orders in as soon as you can. I will provisionally save you a slot with an e-mail confirmation, but I need your entry fee in to guarantee your place. Those who have paid will have priority. I've been up to the venue today to have a good look around and it is an ideal location, 60m long by 40m wide and I'm told it has great accoustics for the crowds to cheer you all on! The loading event in the opens will be finalised soon. I have some great ideas on Celtic themed items, but need to trial them all out first to make sure they are suitable. Cheers, Gibby
