Yes Si, 120 is the starting weight of the log and that's the log on its own!! It's a beast! We'll have standard logs in the warm up area, not wooden though!

I shall put you down on the Open reserve list if you like Mike, you'll be second on there at the minute.

Hi guys, yes it's looking like S4C and BBC Wales will be filming Celtic Carnage and using it for a programme they are putting together. Talks have gone very well and they are going to do a feature on one of the local entrants in the Novices, Hywel Owen Thomas, a Welsh speaker and a real success story. 3 years ago, he walked into our gym, about 12 stone soaking wet, long haired Metal head and got laughed out when he said he wanted to do weights and get big and one day be a strongman. He went away, built his own strongman kit and now 3 years later, he's 17 and a half stone and about to enter his first comp, just like he said that he would!
They are also going to pick a few of the top guys to do features on in English, so exciting times!
That's a great deal on the hotel and there's a Little Chef right next door for breakfast.

Hi Lads, cheapest hotel I can find so far is a travel lodge 15 miles from the venue (all dual carriageway) at just £23 a night for a double room!!! It's called Cross Hands Travelodge. There is a closer Travelodge just 4 miles from venue, but for some reason, rooms are £49!! The one at Cross Hands is literally right at the end of the M4, very easy to find.
Andy is now on the Novice reserve list as 4th reserve Buddy.
Flynno, you are 2nd reserve.

Not sure mate, nobody has notified me, I just saw that a couple of members names had been taken off here. There's currently 3 on reserve list for novices but guys pulling out all the time, so might be worth me putting their names down on the reserve list if you like?
» Celtic Carnage (Go to post)03-01-2012 @ 10:50
I've noticed that a couple of members on here have pulled themselves off the competitors list, but I haven't had any e-mails or notification off anyone. Please let me know if you're not competing so I can get a reserve in and give them enough notice to prepare.
Cheers,
Gibby.

Hi guys, to all you Open competitors, the wooden log for the log press is almost ready and is looking impressive. The actual log itself is 6ft long and the starting weight on its own will be 120kg.

Hi guys,
Hope you all had a good Christmas. Not long at all now, 5 weeks this Saturday I believe. If there are still competitors that need hotels or B&Bs, either for the Friday night, the Saturday night, or possibly both, then please let me know before next week. I've got a couple of hotels and a B&B who are sponsoring the event and will be giving concessions for rooms for competitors and their friends and family.
Obviously, the more numbers I have, the better the deal I can strike with them. I'll ensure that all rooms come with breakfast. Anyone that is travelling down early on the morning, I'm in talks with a cafe near the location to open up early and give discounted breakfasts for competitors. Once again, I'd need numbers for this.
As for the hotels, the trouble I've had trying to find some that aren't concerned about their beds and toilet seats getting broken!!! So I've decided not to mention anyones weight or height!!!
In the 2nd week of January, I'll send you all a competitors form to fill in with all your details, pb's, t-shirt sizes etc.
I'm still after any entry fees which are outstanding, so if you could get them in to me as soon as, that would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Gibby

As you've probably all heard, Ed Hall is now competing at Carnage, which is awesome news. From day one, I've had fantastic support from everyone and the response has been amazing and has exceeded my expectations already.
We have a great indoor venue in a superb location, sponsors clambering over each other to be involved since they heard Mens Health were running an article. With Martin Cee on the mic and a top class field of competitors, things have suddenly got very interesting indeed.
There will be plenty going on in the day to keep friends, family and children amused. Along with a mini fun fair, bouncy castle, face painting and much much more for kids, there will be numerous stalls, gym displays and food and refreshment stands. We also have an on site sports massage therapist for competitors and I believe she will be charging £5 for deep tissue massage, which is quite reasonable.
Entry for the public is £5 and kids under 16 go free. The local interest is huge and I'm expecting big crowds throughout the day, which will add to the atmosphere.
Thankyou to everyone once again for your support, keep your entry fees coming and I'll wish you all a Merry Christmas now, as I'm going to give myself a few well deserved days off.
Stay strong,
Gibby

Hi Guys,
I'm pleased to announce that we now have the services of Martin Cee, the voice of strongman for Carnage. Top draw competitors and now a quality compere. Its really shaping up now and with the interest shown from Mens Health magazine, it's going to be a great event. Check out Mens Health magazine's March issue, due out January 30th for the article.

Just to let you guys know that the interest in this comp is so high, I've had Men's Health magazine contact me, wanting to run an article on Celtic Carnage for their March issue, which will be out on sale January 31st.
This is great news for us and also for the sport of strongman. Hopefully this will raise the profile for the sport in the UK and give it the credit it deserves. I'm very confident it's going to be a great event and from feedback I've had from the local media and community, it is going to draw a lot of spectators.
