Right then lads, as you must all know, Rich Smith suffered a horrific ankle injury at BSM and will be out for the year by the looks of things. So there will be a new Wales Strongest Man 2012, which adds to the excitement. I've always said this an open playing field and could go anyway, even before Rich's injury. 7 weeks to go, so let's get some excitement and buzz on here. Simon has started work on the kit and once completed we'll all be meeting up to test it out, Carmarthen being the ideal location as the sponors vans are brand new and can't be driven anywhere to test the deadlift stand, plus it's a neutral location and a little less distance to travel for the Northern boys, should they wish to come down.

Looking forward to this now, even though I might be the smallest there at around 15st come the day, judging by some of the monsters that are entering! Starting to get the hang of the axle and the weight's going up every week, so hopefully I'll manage at least a rep on the day! Should have kept my eyes peeled on here for change of events!

Morning Gents. Just to add a further insentive for the winner of the Opens. I'm offering the winner the chance to endorse our new range of Celtic Carnage clothing which is being manufactured right now. I am in talks with a couple of magazines with regards to advertising and a photoshoot will be set up for a week after the comp. The bottoms and zip up hoodies look awesome and the winner will eventually have a full range of clothing off us including t-shirts, vests and kit bags. I'm very excited about this range and I look forward to working closely with the winner to promote it. This comp is wide open and could go to ANYONE. All garments are custom made, so I will be sending each competitor out a form to complete to take down all your measurements and there are over 15 measurements that need taking! Hope this is a little added insentive for you.

Right lads, haven't replied to the comments until now, as I've been awaiting an e-mail back from Glenn as he's in the Middle East and can't ring him. I've pushed and pushed to get 3 Welsh guys into the UKs, but at this point in time he's sticking to his guns and just allowing 2. This is why we need to get people to sit up and take notice of the Welsh and that has always been my goal. With the level of competitors we have in the Opens and the weights involved in each event and also the scale of the event, we simply can't be ignored for next year. That's why the team challenge which I'm trying to organise later in the year against the other 3 nations is our chance to shine and prove we are worthy of a 3rd place. We'll get there in the end.

Trying to organise a show and train for one at the same time is taking its toll on me! Got on the axle today, probably my worst ever event, that's why I've always stayed clear of it in training. reckon I can crack it in 4 weeks if I work on technique. Now I've lost 2 stone, got no belly to rest the bar on!! Knew it would have come in useful for something!

I would like to try and bring everyone together for a change and reignite the Welsh Strongman Association once again. How many people would be interested in joining for a yearly membership fee of just £10. I have two possible sponsors interested in coming on board to give us funding for new kit, possible travel expenses for qualifiers of National comps and Welsh team kit. As well as this, each member will have trade discount prices through Gibby Nutrition on all NRG fuel products from the moment they join. I would also like to arrange some sort of gathering maybe once a month to get everyone together, clear all our differences and have everyone singing off the same hymn sheet. Anyone interested, please give me your names or pm me on here so we can get the ball rolling, the sooner the better.

Martin_Jones said:A bit of an over reaction there, again!!! Why are you bothering to lose your head on organising a comp. People will always have an "opinion" on how a comp is run, you just have to live with that. At least it proves there is passion in Wales. The people that are having an opinion are not even competing. If you say that you have done everything above board... fine... make sure you are transparent and stand by your decission, intead of adding fuel to it all. You could of nipped this in the bud last night when you had the chance instead of kicking off. Any way nothing to do with me but thought I should add my opinion on something I used to be a part of. Martin, if you call kicking off defending my actions, then yes I did, what am I meant to do, just let people talk s**t about me when they don't know the facts. And as for you being a part of it before, it's a shame you're not still involved in some way or other. |
