Thanks Will! They always look so much easier than they felt...

Monday 17th September, Adlington

Squat 20x5, 65x5x2, 110x3, 120x3, 130x3, 140x3, 150x3, 160x3 PB.

That's my all-time triple PB, so the fact that it (and all the others) were done without belt (just neoprene knee sleeves) makes it all the sweeter. Jeff and Andy made me do it, and rightly so. Surprised myself.

I guess this is proof that training in a belt still improves your beltless squat just fine Happy.

Pulldowns 3x8 with increasing, mysterious weights.

Starts dull, gets better, builds to a peak of beautiful insanity.

One of my friends was actually shown this, and tested on it, during his own FL training.

Both Golden Martin (M2 100kg) and Adlington's Handsome Fred (M3 119kg) put points on the board for Britain. Well done lads!

Since you're not interested in getting into a shirt, I'd've thought it would make more sense to be working more on the bottom of the lift and not spending much time on the lockout - if your closegrips are only just behind your full bench, your lockouts don't need the work. I wondered why you had no full bench in there, too.

Awesome.

Friday 14th September, Adlington

Speed Bench 20x12x2, triples at 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 100, 90, 80, 70.

Seated DB press tens with 25#, 45#, 55#, 65#. Abandoned as I couldn't get comfortable with these 'bells. This session will normally be at Sugden with their rather easier-to-handle DBs.

Never done the speed bench before, really enjoyed it. The 110s were still fast.

Thanks, man, I realised I'd left it as soon as I got home.

Good stuff tonight Neil. You listened, acted, and showed a big pair of balls. You'll make a lot of progress quickly with that approach!

Why is almost all of your bench (everything but the one DB session) lockout-focused? You're not weak at lockout, quite the opposite.

You don't HAVE to continental it, any sort of clean will do.

It's times like that you need an expert. Like me.

PS Hayden, you are not going to make master criminal status at this rate, matey.

Nice.
» Addlington on Thur 13th or Fri 14th Sept (Go to post)12-09-2007 @ 21:24
I'll be there; I typically roll into Adders about 5 on a Friday from work, so I'll still be warming up and talking nonsense.

Honestly, bicep tendon pain on the bench is an absolute f**king bas***d of a thing. If hammer curls and reverse curls fixed it for you, Icepick, I'm gonna try 'em, and if they work I shall build a little shrine to you.

I don't get a bad attack all that often, but when it is bad I could no more lower the bar under control than fly.
