I take warming up very seriously!!! Much to the annoyance of Mark I'm sure, who is ready for a 220 squat while I'm on my 6th set with the empty bar!
Everything else you described is normal and the same for me. I feel like it's time I address this with a good rant....
RIGHT
"Tom how do you train so often, how do you recover in time for a 2nd squat session later in the day, how do you squat again the next day, how do you squat the day after a big deadlift, how do you deadlift while squatting so often why aren't your legs/knees/back too sore etc etc"
YOU'RE WRONG, YOU'RE ALL SO VERY f**kING WRONG!
There is NO recovery! NONE! There's nothing different about how you feel and how I feel the day after squatting.
You just roll yourself out of bed on to your hands and knees, crawl over to the door, grab hold of the door handle and pull yourself up to your feet like the rest of us. Then you go to the gym and squat.
Yes, it hurts. Yes it affects your strength, you will slowly (or quickly) get weaker at first.
Right look.....here's what happens. For a while it's really f**king s**t. You go from having a nice big squat while you're fresh, to being down by oh I don't know, 20-50kg in not so long a space of time! Awesome right? No..... well.....sort of actually!
When you're strength has finished divebombing, you find yourself in a new place. You're at the depths of how s**t and weak you can possibly feel. Sounds bad, but the good news is it actually can't get any worse once you get there. If it keeps getting worse, then bad news, you're not there yet, go squat some more.
For me personally, there's a comfort in knowing that every time I squat, I'm as s**t as I can possibly be. I like consistencty, I don't like going to the gym not knowing if it will be a good day or a bad day. I like being capable of very similar numbers every single day, it makes weight selection very easy.
And the numbers start to go up! You're "feel like absolute s**t on the verge of dying" squats actually get stronger, and this reflects a true gain in strength, not just having a better day than last week.
Is this the best way to train? f**k if I know, and f**k if I care to be honest! I wanted to embrace the lifestyle and find out for myself, and that's just what I'm doing. So far, it's ok!
People often ask if you need gear to train like this. I honestly don't think you do. I say *think* becasue...maybe this part does come down to genetics, I don't know. I only know about what I do. At the moment I can't even afford creatine lol. Or a decent diet, and I sleep on average 4-5 hours a night. I'm sure it doesn't help, maybe I could be doing better but, I'm getting by!

Also I think it helps if you can chose the right numbers for the day..most guys just go to heavy.Challenge yourself but keep the form good and make sure you move fast

I am.only going by what the book says, its reasoning and what macca says, but he seems pretty keen on the coffee with added fats.
The preferred source appears to be coconut oil/ other MCT as it gives a quick release form of energy from fat source and you only need a few grams so not too many calories and obviously no insulin "spike".
I don't imagine 100 calories of fat would be too much added for you in the morning at 100kg or so bw but may help make the diet more tolerable in terms of eneegy

I think the extra cals in the morning helps you slowly add some lean mass in time..I found on this diet I had loads of energy and felt great

I think Josh Hill benched 240 in the 110s a few years back..he's 100 now and lifting this year so I expect he will be around the same numbers by then
