See this is the part that the "live and let live" crowd don't seem to understand. They're ruining it for the lifters in the only fed with any chance of being taken seriously on a large public level. It's all well and good saying "well they lift in another fed it doesn't affect you, just ignore it blah blah" but it DOES matter. Some people want to take the sport seriously, and in turn have the sport be taken seriously, and it NEVER will be taken seriously while there are so many different groups doing their own increasingly ridiculous versions of squat bench and deadlift.
Someone mentioned a deadlift world record in the gym yesterday. Somebody else then had to ask what KIND of world record it was, and then there was a long discussion about federations and different levels of equipment. How could anyone take that seriously?

Another reason some guys lift in other feds is because they juice and beleive even if they was clean for 2 years before they joined gbpf they would have an unfair advantage on lifetime nattys and would be cheaters in there mind

force10 said:I think Steve needs to stop thinking gbpf is the largest Fed, It might have been in past years but dont think it is now to be honest, Iv been to 3 bpc comps this year and seen more lifters at them 3 comps than I did in 19 years of lifting in gbpf/bwala comps.
Plus the amount of spectators, in gbpf the only spectators ar the lifters plus the odd family member, but at the bpc comps there was ten fold more spectators not just lifters family and friends but people coming to watch who had no link to powerlifting.
there was also alot of gbpf lifters that have moved across to bpc this says something.

I got to agree there was a lot of spectators this weekend. The gym was packed when I got there.

I think the main reason is the whole drug issue. BDPFA do more drug testing then the GBPF apparetely.

Any idea on the number of drug tests they each have done in the last year??

Ta.

I've used the same wraps with no problem in the bdfpa

i noticed this chris, how comes longer armed guys can be better with the close grip?

I would say closer grip helps because you drive through to lockout faster so you outrun the sticking point

MattD90 said:Some guy last week at gym was genuinely shocked I weigh 13 stone, said he thought I looked more like 14 stone. Then another guy tonight guesstimated my weight at 70kg lmao

You win some you lose some. Left gym and cried into a big mac

Lol damn guesstimaters..at comp once a guy asked if I was a 90 or 100 class lifter..also he said after watching my bench warm ups my best bench must be 150-160 lol..
