Tuesday heavy squats
warm up 8xbwt 8x bar 8x70 8x100 5x140 suit on 2x160 wraps on 1x180 1x200 1x215 1x230 (came up very well but deemed 1 inch off legal depth so no PB!). Annoyed I didnt quite make depth on last one but at least I know I can handle the weight! 200kg should be an easy starter for comp.
Bench press
8x60 8x90 8x110 6x120 stopped shoulders sore. Went home to take ibruprofen to reduce inflamation. Now training equipped 2 sessions a week on bench more than sufficient I think from now on.

Sunday bench press
warm up 8x60 8x90 6x110 4x120 3x130 1x137.5 new 48 super katana on 3 boards couldnt touch with 155 tried 165 touched, 2 boards 170 touched, 1 board 180 touched and locked out. not bad for first session in a new shirt. Very pleased think this shirt will really work for me. Much more support through arms, shirt not jacked so potential to load some big weights. Could happily open on a PB 180 with this shirt it gives that much extra rebound than my 44 fury even tho its painful to use lol! Finally feels like I am in the right size katana even if the arms are a bit loose. just wish I had more time to practice in it before GBPF champs. Probs will still use it tho as I fancy a crack at 200kg! Besides I have Ian Kinghorn to beat a 190 plus bencher and I wont get that in a fury!

Hi reallyy impressed with your deadlifts mate. Need to boost mine. Noticed you do big reps at top end - do you rest inbetween or knock them straight out! Do you find this sort of training works best rather than singles nearer yuor max? Any help greatly appreciated.

Friday afternoon
Maintenance squat
8x bar 8x60 8x100 6x130 suit on no wraps 4x160 suit plus wraps 3x180 2x200 2x210
All deep and legal felt strong. Could have gone on but will save it for a 230 attempt on Tuesday. 200kg will be an easy opener at this rate already 30kg above my raw opener and I have only worn suit and wraps for a week! Bigger warmup steps much better leaving me more in tank for the last big sets.
Not tired so loaded up bar to 240kg and did 4x partial squats down to 7 holes on cage. Loaded up to 260kg and repeated. Do the same next week and try and get down to 6 holes! weights feel heavy walking out but manageable once settled. Confidence and motivation sky high. Need to lift 260kg squat by Europeans to be in chance of an M2 medal but finally looking a possibilty. 6 months ago was a pipe dream!!!!
Big thanks to Brian and Sean at Meadowfield gym for spotting! They gonna need some more free weights at this rate lol!

Yeah should be ok but to be sure of getting into medals I need to push through to the 700 mark. Think it will come though if I keep the training consistent and as ever don't get injured. Are you competing this year?

Bench
Warm up bar 8x60 8x90 8x110 5x120 5x130 1x135 1x140 nearly new fury on then 3x150 3 boards 2x155 2 boards 2x160 1 board 1x162.5 half board all easy.
New shirt working well for first time on. Feels much springier than old shirt so V happy - looking good. Will be interesting to try new super katana when it arrives from America!

Hi Bill happy new year to you! hope your training going okay.
Was hoping to do the raw world cup in Sweden but masters not included. Want to compete in Europe so going all out equipped this year instead - try and get selected. See how it goes am really buzzing at the moment so hoping motivation will carry me into the 650kg total plus area I need to be in!

Thursday lunchtime deadlifts (in loose squat suit to get use to equipped again)
5x100 5x140 3x170 2x190 1x205 1x215 1x225Fail. Respectable start to year no point in going mad before comp in 3 weeks. Would like at least a 230 by then though.

Heavy squats
8x60 8x90 6x110 4x130 3x150 2x170 suit (inzer) and wraps on 1x185 1x200 1x210 1x220 PB
Nice and deep and all aolid - am back in groove and raw improvement looks like it will carry through to the equipped. Inzer suits me Centurion doesn't yet but may swap once I peak out on inzer! 230kg next Tue!
Maintenance bench
8x60 8x90 8x110 6x122.5 5x132.5 easy
Shirt on Thursday . Need 176kg equipped in 3 weeks to take YNE M2 record!
Relieved after a hatful of bad sessions!

Thursday
Quick afternoon session
Tried on tightened Super Centurion even with just 130kg felt awful. Dont have enough time to get used to it will stick to inzer suit for qualifier.
Deadlift up to 200 in inzer max but failed 210 just couldnt get comfortable/off line in suit. Not happy lifting equipped at all. Need to go back to basics and lose some weight as suit too tight at training weight of 97kg!!! It will come back just have to persevere.
Another maintenance bench press up to 5x130kg
Sobering session. Unsettled with Xmas break.
Still back to proper routine on Tue focus on squat and hopefully get at least a 210 squat in so I can at leat lift more than my raw!

Squat

Super centurion on no straps 2x160
Straps up 1x175 1x180 full depth but straps too loose no body support.
Will leave it there for first session. Happy that I can make the suit work. Will tighten up straps get used to equipped line and am sure weights will start to stack. Its clearly a totally different ball game to raw.

Maintenance bench

Friday
Down to gym with tall skinny son who has just taken up American football! Taught him how to bench and squat - a natural but need to buy him a few kilos of protein to fatten him up!
Deadlifts
5x100 5x140 5x160 3x180 1x200 1x210 lazy but ground out very pleased considering was totally not in mood- a year ago would not have managed 200 on a day like this.
Will relax now get pissed and eat way too much. Back in gym Tueasday to build up to regional masters equipped.
Try on my new super centurion - have heard some people can get 70kg carry over from raw - a 270kg squat now that would be smoking lol! I will keep dreaming!!!!

It didnt make any sense on the day. I had to dehydrate a bit to make weight. I had helped my club mates out the previous day and felt a little tired. But what really clinched it was the desire to win the competition with least risk of bombing. Nobody remembers PB's but they do remember who won!
Lesson learned is now that my squat and deadlift are coming up I need to practice jumping up in 15kg and 20kg increments instead of 10kg in training. This will give me confidence to still open on a safe opener but then manage a third lift that pushes the boat out.

The win has definitely given me a lot of confidence - and I know there is a lot more in the tank when I need it!

Ended up going for medals rather than PB's at Commonwealth managed 5 out of 5 overall/individual gold medals against guys that were there.
Unequipped 3 lift ended up Masters 1 winner on 190/145/227.5 Total 562.5 an increase of 15kg on total comp PB
Sealed Bench comp with 145 again.
Now to see how this translates into equipped at yne masters equipped 28th jan
