Or succeed! Thanks for your opinion though.

Sparrow - I 'think' my best log ever is 110kg for a double (split jerk) but recently (within last 6 months) i remember failing to push press 82.5kg on my current log (again this log not round/hard). I don't know what i can do without bands until i stop using them i just know it's going up along with pressing in general. It has a lot to do with regular log training but the bands have definately helped my lockout strength.

Bear - Most have squatted is 240 (rehband only), most have deadlifted is 260, most have benched is 140, floor to overhead 130. Floor to overhead was max, others 20k in tank at times of lifts.

James - I've had a lot of injuries as well as comps always having bad events for me and now everythings starting to come together. I've figured out how to get my knee healthy and keep my back from locking up, also have no shoulder issues or wrist issues anymore. Also events of worlds really suit. I'm unconventional in that my base is strongman lifting rather than powerlifting. I'n my job i do a lot of things that similate a lot of events very well. Lifting carpets from the end simulates tyre flip, atlas stones and front picks very well, i also do tons of carries and odd object loading (mattrasses, bed frame boxes, wooden stands, underlay etc) and am used to lifting all day like this so i don't get worn out like others. I do do powerlifts in work (deficient deadlifts, oly bottom up front squats and push press) but not as often plus i have bad build for these events with pretty long legs, long arms but a long back. It's the pure strongman events are the events i feel i'm capable of beating the best in if i can keep consistant/injury free.

i love olech best lifter by miles
this vid is also a great tutorial for knee wraps (i only use them to protect my knees!!!!)

Massive compression on the joint with that tight a wrap. From personal experience i do NOT recommend this for 'protecting' the knees.

Probably would be loz saying 'i have not done events or legs for 5 months because of injury' before running with i think a 360 or 380 yoke like there was nothing on his back. That one impressed me a lot because i remember trying it thinking 'well that looks easy' an then i was like 'what the f**k?!' Took me 6 days to finish 10m.

Steve gardener one hand deadlifting the mellenium dumbbell for 10 reps was another wtf moment.

Quick overview/some thoughts while i have 5 mins. First thing is that after seeing events for northern u105's, uk's u105's as well as wsm u105's, plus being told there is no wsm u90, have decided to go with 105's rather 90's next year. Everything is coming together well now and i feel i'm in a position to win worlds at 105's or 90's in the next few years. I have no concerns for qualifying for englands next year, my only concern is that england events are log press, deadlift, block press and x, x, x and i cant improve those enough to qualify for uk's so have zero chance of getting to worlds. If i can manage to get to uk's then who knows as past events have really suited my strengths. I was ill and confused on subject in hand when posting in this years wsm u105 thread/regret doing so but the 'far and away' best man for the job comment didnt sit well with me for a reason and i want to prove that. It was a stupid argument in the first place as sean was the man who qualified but had i had done so i know i would have had a great chance to win conans, truck pull and farmers, plus place well in all events but overhead. I would have done ok so i hope the coming years comps are similar and i can earn myself a shot.

Training later.

How much have you improved your log press since using bands?

Looking back to previous page, in less than a month i have went to doing my previous 1 rep max clean and push press for 5 reps and strict press have added 10kg on what i could do 6 reps and did 7 with it. This is with bit heavier bands too. Also noticed my close grip bench was strong (for me) when i did it as well as viking press. I feel using the bands on push press will help me when i go back to using split jerk technique as my triceps are used to heavy tension at lockout. I can do much more weight with a jerk but i think it's better to leave it out of training for the most part and try to build strength/power.

brownbear said:whats the deal with all the band work and the (light) squats/deadlifts?

Bands on log seem to work really well for me, have increased tricep strength a good deal. Light squats/deads is just to get my form right and get more flexy. Gives my body somewhat of a break too.

Yeah but think about it, if you can't be arsed saying the full name you could just say mmm, triple m, or trips.

For pure brute strength i would say radz. He's done what 415kg deadlift? Looks like he can bench 300kg from the 270kg vid and would guess he could squat 400kg from squat vids and sheer size of his legs. That would be a 1115kg total. I'm sure hes capable of this or there abouts, his deadlifts were clean pulls at europes. Lalas i imagine wouldn't be much off that either. Also eric spotto has to be up there, 705lb bench like nothing, apparently can shoulder press 500lbs for reps. I imagine he is strong at anything.

At the end of the day there's technique involved in every event, if we didn't allow things that make it easier we all look like t**ts.

I think sumo should be allowed from standard height simply because it's a deadlift technique used in powerlifting, why only allow half of the legal techniques if your gonna take an event from another sport? I certainly think it would be more interesting for joe bloggs to watch with there being more than one technique used.
