Yeah i don't think this is a given for shaw at all, he's going to have to perform really well. Unless novikov was just ultra fast every run on farmers it looks like hes really upped his grip game so i cant see any real weaknesses and jerry seems to have done the same with log so may have no weaknesses either.

With this crazy year I still would not be surprised to see Terry in the final.
At least I am not Paul (close one)
Tom S to be highest place brit? (again)

I know, but saying 'put down the straps and start hanging from a towel doesn't quite have the same ring to it'

Hanging from a towel also likely to do f**k all for your farmers grip..

Lovely! It'll make you stronger than Oberst in no time.
(If Savage is reading this, I'm joking.)

Loz has said the exact same thing ive said, oberst has great events in the final if he can get there. I can't help some of you f**kers having little understanding of the sport.

They are quite tricky farmers but a lot of guys nowadays don't have great grips. I think the massive bodyweights that some of the naturally smaller guys get up to really hinders them

I don't know, i get what your saying, fat fingers etc but im 180kg now an it's not effected my grip at all. I think it's just a case of either A they dont train it enough or B they don't understand how to train it properly.

Think they need to put down the straps and pick up the grippers

Grippers will do f**k all for farmers grip

He could bet him in loading, perhaps, but I think Brian wins dumbbells and terry potentially last place in that, so unfortunately terry in second overall.
I could be wrong of course!

Could be a big mistake from Brian though as who knows what will happen on that medley, looks light so one stumble or miss grip could mean last place and Tel could easily win it plus lighter medley type stuff isnt typically good for Brian anyway. All Tel would need to do to win the group is beat nick on the dumbbells then and nick has just had elbow surgery and doesnt have a good overhead anyway.

He may as well give up IMO. I could beat him if I trained for it for a few months.

Awesome, you must have the best genetics on the planet. Id do it, you be best in the world breaking all the record in 6 months at that rate.

He should get better at strongman then. :-).

It's easy to say this but it's just not the way it works, you cant change your genetic structure. Some guys just arnt built to deadlift, arnt built well for large farmer implements due to hip width etc of course you can then be better at squats, better at yoke etc so its swings and round abouts but most will always have good and bad events no matter how hard they work on weak events.

Not for oberst, he'll be pissed, truck pull he would have won almost for sure and now that they changed his group to deadlift he's basically gone from most likely first and a second to a second and a last place. Surpirsed with faires though, 52m with those farmers is some going.

unit94 said:Tough one for Bish, will be a hard road back. Don't think Fe has a chance at the final now with not winning farmers. Luke R didn't do great but luckily the standard in that group was a lot lower

Probably a lot to do with watching the first heat go and learning from that but yeah, that should have been a win for Felix. Could still possibly make the stone off.

Anyone any idea of when the first events happening?

Mikeneto said:You reckon their rest day between heats and finals has gone?

Yeah supposed be no rest day now so probably even bigger edge to brian as should coast through the heat, has lots of experience doing so, good events for him, has practiced the double dumbbells a lot using thompson fat bells etc
