Congrats on a quality Rep PB, with 180kg for 5 I can't imagine that your PB will be staying at 210kg for too much longer.

Neil,

Was wondering if there will be somewhere to heat the tacky at the comp or whether I should take a little blowtorch/hairdryer to heat it.

And on an unrelated note will we be allowed to use suits on the deadlift hold, just thinking my back will probably be pretty knackered by that late stage and will be glad of any extra support I can get.

Cheers,
Benvie

I dunno, they felt much the same to be honest, I wouldn't like to say for sure which one was heavier, they're both pretty easy to throw about and it's only when I try the big one that I find difficult because it's so much wider than the others.

Iron Maiden a couple of months ago in Aberdeen. They may be getting on a bit but those old boys know how to put on a show.

Next best was Clutch down in Glasgow a couple of years back.

I've got a pair of the old style 2 ply Thor knee sleeves and can't fault them, haven't tried Rehbands so can't compare with them but would say that the Thor's are far superior to Vulkans.

ben66 said:Good stuff- the big stone at Results is 130kg (bigken told me- Feels about that as well I rekon) The granite one is 100kg, next one up is 110kg and the big one 130.

That's a boost, I thought that the smaller concrete one was only 90kg, if it's 110kg then that means that my stone lifting is a bit better than I thought. Cheers Ben.

Cheers Neil, once your back is 100 percent again though you'll be back front squatting 200kg plus and mixing it up with the best at Scotlands Strongest Man.

You sir, are mental. Strong work though, crazy amount of deadlifting, your back is going to be like iron by the end of this russian masters cycle.

Squatting tonight

Back Squats:

worked up to 120kg

140kg X 4 easy sets of 3
160kg X a couple of singles just for s**ts and giggles.

Yoke:

210kg X 4 or 5 runs of 30 metres with one turn. Fairly easy and straightforward, just going through the motions on this one.

Stones:

90kg X 5
100kg X 5
130kg X 3. Ben was able to confirm it is definitely 130kg so that's a boost.

Not overly taxing session up until the stones but fairly pleased with the stones, I'm still not so great on the bigger stones, probably because I'm only 5ft 8 and have relatively short arms but getting a bit better.

Now just a couple more moderate sessions then Dumfries a week on Sunday.

Quality session there Neil, especially on the bench, I'd imagine that doing so much volume in such a short time would be pretty good for cardio as well.

Quality lifting and great volume on both lifts.

Be interested to see how the russian masters works out for you on deadlift and bench as I was thinking about giving it a try after my next comp.

It'd be worth a go competing, it probably wouldn't take that much alteration of your form and if you compete raw you won't need much new equipment really.

I think I'm gonna give it a go just to give me something to train for during the winter months and keep me strong for next years strongman comps.

Cheers mark, my prep for the comp has generally been pretty good and am pretty happy with thing.

For the comp me and my girlfriend are going down the day before for a day out in glasgow and then heading to dumfries late on the saturday night. Should be a good day tho and decent to watch if u do come down.

Awesome lifting mark and a 600kg total. Next up, 700kg. Congratulations though, 600kg raw is an impressive achievement.

Are you thinking about entering the scottish masters powerlifting in aberdeen in december time?
