ye guna do 4 sets of 4 for 4 weeks n see how that goes then try some more 1RM's. hopefully nailing tech on PP shud see a 100k OH by end of year. n i doubt my pressing is stronger than yours m8.
10 - 14 days out....gutted for ya. im pissed off that i cant train for 2 or 3 days.
» Getting ill. (Go to post)27-09-2011 @ 17:08
funny topic, i am ill atm, i havent trained for 2 days. 1) bcos i had no sleep what so ever sunday- monday. 2) all day monday i ate 3 digestives thats all i could stomach. i managed some sleep last night and today iv also been able to eat abit better. im definately training tomorro.
basically if u can still manage some sleep n eat about half your usual then id train just not full on. also drew's idea sounds good

1 thing that might work (not testesd yet but was puttin ideas together for my next mesocycle) up reps 1 week n then up weight the next.
for example:
week 1) 4 sets of 3 at 100kg
week 2) 3 sets of 5 at 100kg
week 3) 4 sets of 3 at 105kg
week 4) 3 sets of 5 at 105kg

think will be slow progress but should help through a sticking point.

cheers Paul, good to see some 1 else reading my journal too. always good to have more opinions, advice n criticism from fellow lifters.

dont be depressed Vausie, id like to think most weeks il get PBs cos its my 1st SM style trainin cycle b4 i did more BB style so alot of the exercises are new to me n so is all the low reps, think iv jus hit the point wer my body has got used to it so am settin alot of PBs. also started taking creatine n cissus which will have some effect. hows the injury today - any better?

n i thought it was funny that my strict is so close to my push aswell, 1st time iv done a 1rm on strict tbh n i dont know wer the strength came from today.
just dawned on me while typing this that maybe my push isnt as good as it should be compared to my strict bcos my technique is crap with push n dnt use enough drive from my legs maybe?

Strict Press
27k x 10
47k x 8
cant remember if i did a set at 57k
67k x 1
72k x 1
75k x 3 rep PB / felt good
80k x 1 PB / was a bit of a battle to get it locked out but i won in the end

DB shoulder press
25k x 10 strict
25k x 8 log grip (if ur wondering i held the DB's in same position as the handles would be on a log)
30k x 7 used legs, rep PB

Front Squats
27k x 10
47k x 5
67k x 5
87k x 3
97k x 1
107k x 1 PB felt tough but thought id try another 3kg to round it up
110k x 1 PB

Back Squats - Speed and ATG
77k x 8 felt alot slower than last week
77k x 8 abit better
77k x 8 felt as fast as they should be

pretty happy with today
» under 75kg strongman competitions general idea of weights used (Go to post)23-09-2011 @ 23:14
champs of the future 2 wud b a good start. im doin that as my 1st comp in march, plenty of time t get ready. id imagine theyll b alot of under 90kg athletes
» WSM results (Go to post)23-09-2011 @ 17:28
ok the tall guys have an advantage on some things but wouldnt it be harder to deadlift if your taller? not only do they reach down further but have to pull it higher, so if u had adjustable stone platforms the deadlift bar should be adjusted aswell (say to the knee for example). if anything bodyweight is a bigger factor to advantages/disadvantages, especially in any pushing or pulling events.
im not agreeing changes should happen i think its great how it is and in general strongman athletes know their weaknesses n either improve them or avoid the events. if were strictly talking about the WSM then remember its the WSM not the worlds strongest man lb for lb, or for that height catergory.

vausie said: i trapped my siatic nerve 4 years ago which sent my lower back into spasm and pulled the muscles i fell over in the drive in the rain and a group of kids walked past and threw a ribena carton at me i layed there for 20 mins until my mum came to go to work and found me Unhappy

felt sorry for u reading this but still couldnt help laughing, think it was the ribena carton that did it.

sorry to hear, injuries are a pain in the ass, especially the 1s that stop ur training all together. do u have a slight lump in ur back where the pain is? sounds like a muscle spasm - i had 1 in my neck few years ago n couldnt move my head. basicaly a part of the muscle fibres move seperately to the rest of the muscle n causes a small tear, can be caused by something as simple as a cold draught the docs said. best thing for it is alot of heat (hot bath, water bottle) n painkillers, when the pain killers start workin try n move ur neck/head where it hurts but only a fraction at a time to stretch it abit n should heal quicker. the longer u leave it the harder it will be to move ur head/neck. hope this helps
