Lifts went............. Squat: Opened with 160k which went okish it was passed but I was too stiff & too nervous. Then went for 165k and this was a better lift was much smother and I was in better control of both desent and assent. Then went for 170kF and failed this, did the hard work in getting bar up, but did my usual trick of leaning forward slightly & made a half-step forward and hit the rack so it was rightly failed as racking before the command. Still pleased as I have only done 160k since the injury. Bench Press: I can't think of a suitable excuse for this really! I decided to open with 110kF as I regularly do this for reps in the gym. But I think it can only have been nevousness on my part again as I for some strange reason, I decided to ignore the referees signal & pressed when I wanted to. So needless to say, I failed with my first attempt. 2nd attempt I decided to stick with the same weight of 110k, as I have never pressed to a command before so it was all new ground. This went up no problem at all to 3x whites. 3rd attempt I decided on 120k, as although I had done 125k previously this was only touch & go. This went up fine - 2x whites, 1x red. I believe I got the 1x red as I had positioned myself too far up the bench and touched the rack on the way up! Again very pleased to get the 120k Deadlifts: Opened with 190k - went up with ease. 2nd attempt 200k - again, went up nicely Third and final lift of my first comp - 212.5k new PB attempt - this also went up nicely and made me think I would also have got 215k, but hey, there's always next time.

Fantastic day today. Fantastic support from everyone, superb advice - I am indeed honoured to have been allowed to lift. So a big thanks to Bryn for that and his organisational skills, which were second to none! A big thanks also to Martin who helped create a superb atmosphere. Well done to everyone on their lifts, a great competetive spirit shown by all, whilst remaining supportive - what more can one ask! It almost makes me want to move up't north!

Thanks Andy. I had a brilliant time today, I really did. It was a pleasure and honour to lift in the company of such good, supportive lifters. Roll on the next.

I know you probably don't want to, but Martin would never forgive you if you didn't Oh alright then. (its ok Martin, I punch like a fairy!)

little_a said: Lurkie - you have now been absorbed by the power of Turnermation. Shouting committee has been notified of your attendence. 35GB hard drive on the camera needs filling with more stinkin lifting If I am allowed mate, mine will deffo be stinking lifting as I am s**t! I am just working through a list of excuses as I type! First one being "I trained too heavy on Friday night". Will that do for a start? Anyway, I ain't too bothered as long as I don't end up on my back whilst squatting (a la turnermator)
