» Getting old.... (Go to post)15-09-2018 @ 15:57
Post Edited: 15.09.2018 @ 15:58 PM by Hamish
Had our second child 6 weeks and I’m 50 in Feb! Keeps me young though! Life keeps me out of gym more than age per se - too busy! I make sure and stretch a lot now after training to prevent injury. I had been getting a lot of pulls/ tears but nothing since I started the stretching - about 2 years.

Ah, see, what you're thinking of there is 'powerlifting'.

Don't get confused by the moniker, 'strongman' competitions have ALWAYS involved athletic ability and events where movement is required (in addition to some static strength events). So should it remain.

Three static events in one final is, well, not unprecedented but unusual. Hmmm...

11 reps each on the team log, and Terry/Loz won the yoke.

TWO British teams?!

Confused

Think he may have been 8th?
Got about 15m on yoke
Failed opening DL I think, maybe failed second
About 20m on shield carry iirc
Did pretty well in the loading including loading himself into the back of the truck!
Can't remember log. 1 rep maybe
Couldn't see his stone run.

Pretty decent given that his first ever comp was just a year ago!

Happy

What were the final scores? Seems like Luke ran away with it in the end?

We're still looking for some 105kg competitors. Come on up to Highlands and make a week-end of it! The 105s will have a 24hour weigh-in. Athlete's will be able to weigh-in near the comp venue, at Fitlike gym and possibly another 2 venues (Aberdeen and Fife). Also, check out our website:

www.highlandstrengthfestival.co.uk

(although it was 'down' the last time I checked!). Cheers.

Why will only a small section of my previous 2 posts appear in the thread?

Entry form now available to download from the website (www.highlandstrengthfestival.co.uk).

Note, this is only for the sub 105kg class. The Open division is by invitation only. Jamie Barr will be contacting athletes personally for the Open. Anyone who would like to compete in the open but doesn't know Jamie should email us at highlandstrengthfestival@gmail.com or Iain Murray at fitlikeclub@gmail.com and we'll forward your information on. You'll need to include a short bio of strongman competition experience and other lifting achievements (e.g., powerlifting etc).
