The whole premise of faith (in this context) seriously disturbs me

3/7/11 upper

Having a bit of right shoulder grief atm so can't really bench

Press
50 x 1
55 x 1
60 x 2
62.5 x 1 PB

Chins
+10 x 3
+15 x 5
+20 x 5
+25 x 5

Seated DB press
30s x 7 rep PB

Lat pulls x 10 x 10
Facepulls x 20 x 20

I then got home and tried on a pair of swimming shorts that were fairly small (mid thigh) last year but still roomy. I could hardly get them on now, then I sat down a split one of the seams lol. Progress!
» squat depth (Go to post)02-08-2011 @ 23:41
Squat depth is one of those things that on the internet everyone does 2" below parallel at the very least and arse to ankles at the very most.

Whereas in real life I think people just crack on and do whatever is working for them and as long as depth is hit then they're happy. Only online does it become a huge issue

Yeah Dan I can relate to that because having a go with them made me realise they aren't as straightforward as I thought. One part of me wants to never use them again lol, I felt awfully unstable unracking the weight because of the cut off circulation, but by the same token that is +10kg I never would have lifted without them, so at least it was partly a success.

I think I'll just use them very conservatively and when the mood takes me

It might be worth going to a physio just to be sure. No disrespect to doctors but with a physio specialising in these sorts of things day in, day out, they really know their s**t.

Last year I had a persistent shoulder pain that I couldn't do much with. Most pressing motions hurt it but back stuff was ok (edit: on good days that is. Most days I could hardly lift my arm without pain). It lasted weeks, I saw a doctor twice who gave me s**t loads of anti inflamms, told me not to lift at all, and then a steroid injection, diagnosing some sort of inflammation of the joint capsule.

I saw a physio who said I had textbook rounded shoulders and tight pecs, told me to get back in the gym, do everything I did before bar benching and dips, stretch my pecs and shoulders several times a day and do more facepulls/rotator cuff stuff.

Pain free within 7 days.

I'm pretty jealous though that your only knee grief has come from football! I play no sports but still get knee trouble from squatting from time to time. I had a bad phase about 2 months ago that went..lately I seem to be having another bad patch where one knee stiffens up from time to time and is painful to bear weight on unless I put a sleeve around it. The only thing that could have caused it is lifting Unhappy

2/7/11 Lower

Went back on what I said lol and gave wraps a go today. I seized the opportunity cos normally my gym is stone dead empty and today someone was there for a spot.

Squats
120 x 1
130 x 1
Wraps on
140 x 1
150 x 1
155 x F

Box squats
100 x 5
100 x 5
100 x 8

Only got 10kg out the wraps. They were difficult to get the hang of. I did them tight and first set with them I could hardly feel my feet, was wobbly as hell lol.
» Will it blend? (Go to post)01-08-2011 @ 21:39
I use a blender every single morning for breakfast-

150g oats
~500ml milk
Nesquik to taste

So quick to make.

Like others have said it's also great if you wanna get loads of fruit. Like you can buy oranges alot cheaper than say, tangerines, but the tradeoff is they're often a bas***d to peel and eat. So I just take a sharp knife and crudely remove the majority of like 3 oranges and few other fruits, blend those bas***ds and neck it for easy 5 a day lol

You realise that the fat in olive oil is a little different from take away, right?

Yes, but I don't mind getting a greater ratio of sat fats:unsat fats because of late unsaturated fats have become another media buzz word alongside cholesterol, antioxidants, and many others, many of which are buried in a cloud of hype and little more.

This sounds a bit like a "Aren't I hardcore because no restaurant can possibly curb my 10,000 calorie a day diet" type of thread.
Bit like half my Facebook feed....

"just smashed a full chicken"

"salmon and rice yeah baby"

"chest time let's do it"

*insert random song lyric*

etc etc

Haha agree. I was just reading this thread and thinking hmm might not be a bad idea, then saw your post and you make a good point. If I wanted extra calories and was willing to consume pure fat, I might aswell enjoy that s**t and have a kebab, chips and garlic mayo every night before bed as like a 6th meal LOL

Also, knee wraps came in post the other day Grin Been practising how to wrap them but gonna save them for a while. Plan is to use them in the near future when training gets boring/stale to kick start it again and make things fun..and to also shift heavier weight and see if I get any carryover.

No point at the minute though, progress is coming on well as I am. I also wanted wrist wraps for heavy benching and heavy floor pressing but couldn't really afford it so they'll have to wait.
