Tuesday 17th PM
Ran down to the sports park on campus and did some sprints with different BW stuff around - course is 800M and has press ups, dips, pull ups, situps, lunges, shoulder press and BOR stations at various points. did that course once. Then did x10 Pressups into 300M "sprint" into x10 sit ups with 100M recovery walk, stright back in to press ups, etc etc., did that 5 times. Then a run back to the car. SHATTERED!

Krav
1 Hour

Cricky today was a HARD day!! Cramp and doms and everything! Hopefully the hard work will pay off!

JC said:It depends massively on how new you are to training

Been Training a few weeks - PB within the next few weeks I'd imagine

Training 5+ years - not for a f**king age
Yeah I understand the longer youve trained the harder it is! Happy

walker said:At the moment I'm hitting PBs every month or so.
Good work Happy

macroth said:I'm guessing you mean 1RM PBs? Because some programmes will have you doing rep PBs every month for a while (5/3/1, linear progressions...), and as was said if you vary a lot (à la Westside or otherwise) you can hit PBs on different exercises almost every week.

My next 1RM PB on squat, bench, dl and press will be next week, inch Allah. It's been ten weeks since my last test.
Yeah i mainly mean 1RM, I would guess that after that you would/should get a new PB every week and youve just added another X% to your previous programme (if that makes sennse again) Good luck with your tests Happy

Fazc said:Every time I go heavy on that lift. If you set up your routine right then you shouldn't really expect less.

But then I vary stuff a lot so I might not do the same thing till every 3 weeks or more. If I think a lift went really easy I'll try again next week and nail a PR, if it was hard I'll back off and hit something else for a PR the following week instead. I don't like grinding out the same s**t week in week out, or long build 2-3 month build ups to PRs. That always injures me or leaves me fried.
Thats cool, I like mixing things up and then coming back to something and seeing how iv gained without even specifically training it Happy Why do you think you get injured/fried?

Wayne_Cowdrey said:
Correct.
I don't pyramid my way to a PB attempt or anything like that. I just do what I feel like doing on that particular day.
Fair enough Happy I would just feel abit "lost" not knowing where i am in relation to a PB, its what i use to ensure im constantly improving.

milsy said:About 6 weeks but I expect this to get longer over time
Sounds good Happy Do you do block training where you should PB in Sq/Bench/DL etc in the same week or do you cross phase those 6 weeks so you PB in one one week, then another the next week etc. (if that makes sense, probably complete wrong terminology!)

So are you saying you have no idea when your next PB will be? (to Wayne too)

Alright Champ! Thought your log had been a bit bare recently Unhappy SENSIBLE training is required mate! Shame that Harry's decided to come now, you were on your way up wernt you! Just stick to more sitting/laying down stuff. On a side note (and im sure this is highly unlikely) do you think the hernia has anything to do with ur previously hurt bottom? or completly unrelated?
» How long untill a new PB? (Go to post)17-07-2012 @ 10:47
Lets assume that you are fit and well (no injurys or niggles). How long would you expect to train before you get a PB in something?

e.g. Week 0 you have just squatted a new PB....how many weeks until you'de expect to see another PB or at least be peaking again?

For me I would hope for around 10-12 weeks (of uninterrupted training) depending which programme I use. How many people "go for it" when they feel good (regardless of programming) and how many people restrain themselves and stick to the plan in the hope/knowledge that in the long run it'll be worth it?
I realise it may not be as clear cut as this, but jus wondering what peoples thoughts/plans were like.

Cheers Happy

What you're talking about here is a re-feed or carb up as part of a low carb cyclic diet, not a cheat meal.
If you "refuel" your body with a mixture of high GI carbs and high saturated fats you will lose at dieting.

Yeah mate the re-feed/carb up is what i meant in terms of just one meal or a whole day. Wrong terminology i guess Eek
