Great session today, went into the gym to squat a pb and heres what happened; Lower Body Squat 60 2x3 100 x3 130 x2 160 x1 180 x1 200 x1!! (pb incase u didnt guess) will upload video in abit, im 99% sure its in (welcome people to argue differently) happy with this, considering my comp was on the 1st may (30days ago) so 10kgs in 30 days. very nice! Speed Pulls 60 2x2 100 x1 130 10x1 Speed pulls felt really good, very fast, think the banded speed pulls have helped alot (thanks Jennings) SLDL 60 x8 100 x8 140 3x8 (hook grip hurts your thumbs!!) GHR Never done these before, but will defiantly keep working with them! Westside method proves they work so il keep on it! BW 5x3 Decline Abs on the GHR BW x10 10 3x10 VERY happy with todays session short but got all the important stuff in! More compound PBs to come later in the week! | |||

Strict Press This was pretty sh#t, not gonna ramble on but was dissapointed considering how i felt with last weeks SP 50 x5 70 x3,2,1,1...irritatted to say the least Decline Bench 70 x5 110 4x6 Half way through my sets couple of "elite" rugby lads decide to start unloading the bar, Anus' thats what they are, had a moan at them and continued my set with even more rage (which actually helped the set go alot better!) seriously, don't come in to the gym wearing stupid little shorts, walk around, do some half arsed benching, 1/4 squats with less weight than i can full squat with and then unload peoples equipment! Moan 2 over. Flat DBs 20 x5 40 2x8 Incline DBs 34 x8,7 (pfft) Shoulder Pin Press (as demostrated by Elite Kinetics here - http://www.youtube.com/user/elitekinetics#p/u/4/KejTXM86_cc ) 40 x5 50 5x5 Will add these in, my overhead pressing is a massive weak link in my training. So a session of 2 half's today, First part was pretty much Oly based, working on overhead stuf and some front squats and the second half was assistance and some SM stuff. Here's the low down; Power Clean Push Press 50 x3 60 x3 70 x3 80 x3 90 x3 (pb, working on that overhead stuff. hopefully carry over for the axel and log!) Jerks Working on the teckkers of these to make sure im doing it properly! Thanks to Martin for a few tips! 50 3x2 60 3x2 70 2x2 Front Squats No Belt on these to work my core 50 x5 80 x5 100 x3 120 x3 130 x2 (pb, pretty sure my 1RM is 135 or 140. want like 160 this year ) Now for assistance; Seated Shoulder Press 1mins rest between sets 26 x7,7,7,6(2extra reps for not getting 7!) Shruggs Worked in with Jay with minimal rest and got up to 170 x 10,10,10,20 then some fun 24" block pull shruggs, 240 x5, haha Lat pulls Again, short rest peroids 85 4x7 Sled Pulls and Farmers Walk Medley Not too sure about Sled weight, lets assume 10kgs Sled - 35kgs Farmers - 60kgs 2x25 metres Sled - 50kgs Farmers - 90kgs 3x25 metres Then just 90kg Farmers for 25M to finish Absolutely blowing after these medleys! Just added them in for some conditioning and to get the SM work done. Pretty good session, very happy Also big up to Jennings who benched a 5kg PB today! Good lad! Just a small session today Deadlift 70 2x3 110 x3 150 x1 190 x1 220 3x3 Massive PB for me, previously ide only pulled 220 for a double, so to do 3 sets of 3 on it, im pretty happy with. Got some videos, saw that my form was going at the end of the sets, so a sign that its heavy. recon il go for a pb next week and then reset it again, have exams in the coming weeks so not too sure about consistancy of training so would like to pull something nice before training slows down Light Squats 60 2x2 90 x2 120 5x2 Nothing special, just a bit of light work, all nice and deep to normal working speed. Speed Bench against EFS Short Mini Bands 60 2x3 70 x3 80 5x3 These felt and looked (from videos) faster than last week, so in theory a pb 3 Board Bench 60 x3 90 x3 120 5x3 125 x3 Again, not really done these much at all, did them for a few weeks before my last comp and found them really hard/awkward, but now that ive moved my comp grip out on the bar they feel alot better and hoping to get some nice weight in my hands in the coming weeks. Feet Up Paused Bench 60 x5 90 x2 110 x2 (pb, previously ide only done 110x1 for T&G, now to pause it for a double at the end of a session = ) Overall very happy with todays session Some overhead pressing and lots of assistance tomorrow, work on that upperback, which means Farmers Walk! Bit of everything today, got the 4 main exercises in and smashed it yet again Here's how it roles; Box Squat 60 2x5 100 x3 130 x3 150 x1 170 3x3 (pb) previous pb was last week, and ive done 170x5 before. more next week and then a change of box height Speed Pulls against EFS Monster Minis 60 2x2 +Bands x2 100 x1 120 8x1 - these pulls felt FAST, took a cheeky video too and they looked much better than last weeks 170 x5 (pb) Added Belt and hit 200 for a double (pb) rumour has it that these bands are about 40 kg at the top (depending on your height) Log Working on the teckkers, thanks to Bish and Flash for some pointers 67.5 6x1 77.5 4x1 87.5 3x1 Tried 92.5 a few times, got the clean but the press just wasnt happening. Close Grip Bench 60 2x5 (didnt think i was warm enough ) 90 x3 110 x3 115 x3 (pb) 120 x2 (pb) 90 x10 Decided that my overhead stuff HAS to increase if i want a bigger bench and to even consider competing in SM. Its great finding a weakness (not so much for the fact you've found that your sh#t at something) but more for the fact that you can work on it and once that exercise has increased say by 20kgs or whatever, means that everything else should've also increased (if you get my drift) Rest day tomorrow then more pressing and heavy Deads im thinking. So, had the staff social last night and of course drinks were flowing so today was never going to be 100% regardless of how i felt, still here's what i managed to get done; Squats 70 x3 100 x3 130 x3 150 x3 170 x3 180 x3 (pb) 130 x10 (pb) Yoke Never tried this before so was completely alien to me plus was working in with a dwarf meant i had to squat down pretty low to pick it up! 160 4x15M 220 15, 15, 9 (so heavy to pick up, like a 220 1/2 squat really...) 160 2x15 Tried some tyre flips but was completly ruined from yoke Stones Loaded the 80kg stone for 5 singles to a 51.5" platform. Suppose i should be happy with the squats, 180 for a triple should give me 200 (90%) so in a few weeks i reckon il try it and see how it goes. The Yoke just unexpectedly finished me off. Ah well, Pressing tomorrow. Gonna try the log and see how things go. |
