The guys where carrying 4 x 100kg sand bags and loading them over 12m in sub 30sec last year the 150kg sand bag will be lifted off a platform like shield carry, if this is too heavy I am sure we can make it lighter but i think any lighter and it will be not challenging enough.
If its too heavy we can make it 3 x 100kg sand bags then drag but I am confident 150kg is possible we have used 180kg shield before for 105s and most got over 30m

Big dan is a very nice guy lifted with him a few times shame he has such a weak grip or he would be a fantastic strongman
Well done Felix almost got a Brit at the Arnold's still hanging in there at the top level at his age

Looks like a great comp, Stuart and the burns gyms guys never fail to deliver, I am really impressed with standard and I can't wait for final in June. it was a 2 horse race last year that went down to the wire, this year so many more talented guys in with a genuine shout of being crowned SSM
Another thing that really excites me is the potential for such a strong quartet going over to big glens uks, 2 years ago I was really proud how well the lads done, we had 2 almost 3 in the final and one on the podium. Then last year through injury and other issues we sent over a weaker Scottish contingent, but I honestly think the 4 that head to Belfast in aug will be the best we have ever sent.
Scottish strongman looks to be going from strength to strength and 2013 should be a great season
Can I also take this opportunity to say well done to a guy no one has mentioned he has only done a handful of comps and made final of Scottish in first attempt, well done John pollock he is a propper nice guy and small in comparison to most, he has achieved a lot in less than a year in the sport so well done to you sir

Fair enough mate, is there still going to be the option of weighing in on the day? If there is I'll just weigh in on the morning as I'm not really planning to need the 24 hr weigh in, just though of I didnt ask abiut an evening weigh in I definitely wont get one.

yeah the chance to weigh in on the day will still be there and i am sure will be used by most but the option will be their 24 hours in advance for anyone who needs it

weigh in will be on the day will be like previous years 9am then second chance between 11 and 12 before rules at 12 with 1pm start

TBF guys I am not a fan myself but if the comps that lead on from this one have them, we have to give the Scottish athletes an equal playing field to their competitors
In the past we have only had 2 athletes not make the weight on first attempt comp day, that was stephen Mullins and Fred hick and after some cardio both competed
On the other point of making weigh-in later in the day there is only so much I can do to accommodate guys traveling further a field, I my self have option of 24 hour weigh-in for the comps I will be lifting this year, one is London, one is portugal and one is Chicago if I need to utilise this the onus is on me to be there when weigh-in is stated reguardless how far i have to travel, so sorry guys if you need 24 hour weigh-in you need to be there 24 hours in advance
Again thank you to everyone who has shown an interest and posted positive comments on the competition

Yeah I know !! But I am sure you big guys will allow it to be reduced to 70 for a couple of weeks in may if I ask nice

We have recieved a lot of interest already so fingers crossed we have a strong field fighting it out for the Viking helmet and the chance to represent Scotland in national and international competitions that follow

We are going to introduce the option of 24 hour weigh-in to bring the competition in line with other 105 comps, the idea would be that the gym will be open from 11 on the sat and athletes will have a 2 hour window from 11am to 1pm to weigh-in, any strong objections please feel free to voice them here

Thank you very much for the kind words gents, we have had the comp inside and out in the past and it's always a fun comp and for me that's the most important thing.
Most of the events will make it possible for less experienced guys to still participate but at the same time tax the more experienced guys to a level they will no doubt encounter at the Brits and Europeans
We have set records in the past
Silver dollar 402.5kg
Farmers 170kg over 12m
Log press 130kg
Fingals finger 7 reps
Shield carry 87m (I think)
Atlas stones 160kg
Max deadlift 330kg
Hoping to set a new one in max yoke, dumbbell and maybe silver dollar
Good luck everyone and train hard, over the next few months I will try my best to answer any questions and will organise a few training sessions closer to time

Benvie said:Awesome events andy, im in, loving yoke for max.

Also, for the dumbell medley are they all the same type of dumbell (globe, plate loadable etc) or different ones at each weight. For the conans is the weight added while we've got it in our arms or do we put it down for the weight to be added and finally for the rising bar silver dollar how much weight will be added for each rep?

oh ffs !!!
different dumbells 2 standard dumbells 2 strength shop 1 giant circus
conans is put it down load it yourself, the turning circle is quite big btw
each lift will be 45lb or 10kg a side each lift, so 270, 290, 310, 330, 350, 370, 390, 410
