Cheers Ed & Boar,

I lost 2.5 stone in the 6 months training for it so i felt good even though i was still a fat bas***d. I have signed up for The Big Brutal Swim in North Wales in August, its 5k so not too far but enough that i will need to train to be ready. There was a 10k option but didnt fancy that. Probably look at doing another 70.3 next year but id try and get to around 18 stone to make it easier on my joints. Its all good fun though.

Whats the weight at now Ed? Still making under 90's?

Boar said:many congrats James ! any plans to continue ? you know whats next .......

I really wanted to carry on triathlon'ing but just couldnt get motivated to go open water swimming ...still busy with the kids n stuff !!

I have however , bought a unicycle and i have taught myself to ride it !! ITS TOUGH !!

Thanks mate. I really enjoyed the swim and the bike was ok up to about 45 miles, the run however was tough. One min I was fine, then the next I was feeling horrendous. Had cramp in both hamstrings from about mile 5 so ended up running/walking between alternate lamp posts. My splits were swim 40.31, bike 3.42 and run 2.55. At the moment I'm struggling to walk but I'm thinking about trying a long swim or maybe a 100mile ride later this summer. I think I'd like to have another crack at a 70.3 to try break the 7 hour mark and I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to do a full one but I'd have to lose some serious weight and sort out my bike and running.

Good luck unicycling, have you mastered the straddle and dismount?

Didnt have someone crash into your house again did you ed? Move go ok?

Also well done mr boar on the marathon. I did the ironman 70.3 in stafford yesterday (7 hrs 39mins). Definitely came 1st in the 20stone catagory! Great fun up to the run.

Training is looking consistent ed, keep it up. What's the goal?

Was looking through YouTube the other day and came across videos from the big gay bash at gym 1. Now that was a proper comp. strict barbell curl for max was my favourite event. You heard from mr fandango recently?

Boar said:I have spent 2018 getting back to decent fitness - just about to rack up 10,000km on my bike .... but the next few months will be spent getting ready for the London marathon , I am still rehabbing my achilies tendon , its sore , but I'm being careful and managing to do plenty of running.

I have owned 3 concept 2 rowers in the last 8 years , but I am getting a hankering for my 4th ..... bacause I am a tool that cant stop selling things .....

I have all my kettlebells and am gently starting a strength routine to help with my running and general getting f**king old.

fair play Ned, you are still holding decent strength , getting very ugly though , and a bit too fat.

That's a lot of time on the bike there mr boar. I got myself a new road bike recently, been on a few 50km rides. Really enjoyable once I'm out but getting motivated is difficult at this time of the year, especially knowing the pounding my backside is going to get on that seat!

Beginning to think you had given up the training ed. How was the house move? Move far?

Boar said:James , my only bit of advice i can give you is:

dont do it with Eds brother.

Grin

Grin Thanks for the advice.

As a ironman yourself I may have to tap into your knowledge further as I get going with this challenge.

Hi James , god to hear from you mate , all is well here apart from me being a flabby fat mess!Grin
are you still doing a bit?

That makes 2 of us then! Just back from holiday, was doing some training before going but decided to do a half ironman next year so starting to train for that now. Just trying to decide what one to do, probably the one in Staffordshire in June. Never rode a road bike before and running I'm starting from zero but Iv always wanted to do it and now time to stop talking and start doing. Maybe il start my journal up again to have some accountability.
