I use a Strengthshop 13mm double prong. Took an age to break in, literally months. However, it's the best belt I've used and very well built.

I get my wife to pluck the strays and the unibrow. They don't grow long though.. I'm probably not at that stage yet!

I'll admit straight up that I don't like the addition medley. But that's only because I'm a fat f**k that doesn't like running around. Still looking forward to it though!

But with the cost of travel, accomodation, food etc, on top of entry fees and temporary BPC membership - I may as well just go on holiday abroad.

Just wanted to say I'm not just following your log 'cause you're a local lad, but you post up some really solid sessions. Inspirational mate. Sparrow said: Teddy - I think it will probably be Pickering who will come after Gray, then the likes of yourself and Shane. Will be a top night though, that we CAN be sure of! Not sure about Pickering... he's a big strong lad, but can't see him beating Shane! Fancy a wee wager? (Couple of pints as the prize) Tried a few deadlifts from 15" for the first time today and was very happy indeed. What a lovely height to pull from when you're a short-arse like me! 300 went up easily and 320 moved a couple of inches in the right direction... I'd hope by November I'll be pulling 330ish from this height

Looking forward to meeting you at Cheshires mate, not long now! Just curious as to why you pull 12" SLDLs so much?

Sparrow said: Teddy - My raw pull is awful. 220 double was near the limit tonight. 260 will take some getting! I would expect you to out-total me by a good 40kg or so going off our numbers... Shane said they do fitness/conditioning classes on a Thursday at SV running around with kegs, pulling sleds etc. He said they will start up again when he gets back off his jollies. sound perfect for strongman fitness. I'll leave you guys to it for this week as I'm all pulled/pressed out! I didn't even know they did that! Only really train there once a week and spend the rest of my time at Total Fitness. Highly doubt there'll be a 40kg difference between us, my C+J might be improved but it's still dodgy! I think it'll be pretty close between the bigger lifters.. Shane is pulling about the same as I am at the moment, and I've no idea what Glenn is capable of!

What you aiming for on the night of strength? 260 raw won't be a problem for you in December with the raw numbers you're pulling now! 120/300+ as a miniumum mate! My axle c+p has magically started moving in the right direction now Not sure what this Thursday conditioning malarkey is, but I'll be there at 1830 with at least JT and Joe for some event practice for Cheshire's. Not 100% sure whats on the cards though. Guessing OH medley and deadlifts.. -edit I meant November, December is a completely different month!

Might not have been a Monday Shane is great to train with, as are most of the lads at SV, you should come down for an evening session one day mate. Just curious if there's any reason why you're still pulling suited now? Especially when night of strength is RAW (excluding wrist wraps)... I'm guessing knee wraps are allowed, but I really don't understand why!!

martin said:Thanks for the response guys. If I come into some cash I may well just get some Rehbands then, or even try the cheaper ones to start with. What's people use them for? Ideally I want something that is going to keep my knee(s) warm and offer a little support as I am returning to training in a couple of weeks post knee surgery. I have tendonitis in both knees, keeps them warm and reduces any pain while training. And Buzz - I use a Tesco value electric whisk. It smells like burning plastic, but it does the job I ask of it! |
