BDFPA British Powerlifting Championships 7th April

Bodyweight: 102.5 kg

Squat:

1. 215kg
2. 230kg FAIL
3. 230kg FAIL

Bench Press:

1. 125kg
2. 135kg
3. PASSED

Deadlift:

1. 290kg
2. 312.5kg FAIL
3. 312.5kg FAIL

Total: 640kg

Overall, not my day! First full powerlifting comp at 110kg class and got beaten into second place by bodyweight. This time my huge jumps from 1st-2nd attempts didn't work, and had I been a bit more conservative with my second attempts I might have won.

Do you not think it makes you weaker off the floor? Or do you naturally have good speed off the floor?


I'm getting quicker off the floor, but I'd rather not risk back injuries for a bit more speed! It's the way I've always done it and it's always worked for me.

British Single Lift Championships, 19th February

Bodyweight: 101.4kg

Deadlift:

1st attempt: 280.5kg NR
2nd attempt: 290kg NR
3rd attempt: 300.5kg Open NR

110kg class winner open and junior.

New weight class this time, weighed in comfortably into the 110kg class and won the class overall! Even though the warm-up facilities weren't great (only just enough weight for my final warm-up!) and the loading was slow and sometimes incorrect it was still a good day and a nice return to single lifts after a year off.
