Benvie said:Was the weight of the dumbbell correct? If so I am very surprised that so many guys (some of whom are pretty decent pressers) struggling so badly with a 105kg dumbbell.

I really enjoyed the show and can't see anyone coming close to the top 3 next year.

its more to do with the size of that dumbell mate deffo . I played with Hixxys bell Tongue and its not heavy but its awkward . People as wide as Eddie would be better putting the dumbell beside his ear and not behind his head as you get a lot more power through the bell.

For strict pressing videos Jay Pateman is great to watch

cheers mate ,but its certainly not a choice its literally as far as we can go down because all your muscles are squashed together, even with 180kg pressing down on you , no one would chose to start at that position ,driving off the clavicles would be a lot more advantagous as you have a resting point to drive off rather than being in mid-air and driving off nothing !!!

» why do people bench with fat grips? (Go to post)24-11-2014 @ 12:44
some people reckon the improvement with hand grip strength after benching with fat grips improves your bench when you get back to a normal sized bar

although i think thats bo***cks

Cleggy did the Millenium and Kelsey a plateloadable both 105kg @ 105 , that would be the equal unnoficial Brit record

Agree .. Plus not everyone aspires to become the fastest man to run with a keg/ yoke or farmers or the guy who can hold up a car battery up for the longest ..
I only really do this to increase my static strength, it is after all just a hobby and everyone should do the comps they like the look of and don't do they comps they don't fancy .
Spectators the same .

totally agree Mr Clegg
