So it's the lack of gear i guess.
But 1003lbs is the still a huge pr for him.

Think drug testing is a farce. It's obvious if you're drug free you don't go beyond your meet max in training, and the same if you're training untested you leave the best for the day tapered and in peak condition, especially for major meets at elite level. The only way you're going a lot heavier in training than at a meet drug tested, is if you've got x y or z in training that you have to pull back on if you're going to get tested IMO alledgely on the basis of some speculation I overheard somewhere at some point in time ...Happy

The WPC has a tested arm of the AWPC ... so all the benefits of deadlift bar, monolift etc .. a member focused approach etc while having testing and a non tested division ..

I'd like to think that anyone who's been on the sauce would stay in an untested environment. Tested should be lifetime drug free but we all know this isn't going to happen. Given this and fact drug tested isn't drug free necessarily .. 3 years drug free would probably suffice imo ..

Shame you're not closer ... I'd think about investing of you were in the leeds/York area ... although I'd say 15 racks would be sufficient most of the time ...

So what's the solution ... We only have bumpers .. Maybe doing some speed work with Texas power bars and bumpers, and mixing between the 2 bars to get used to a bit of bend and a bit of extra stiffness .. ? Maybe doing some 1inch deficit stuff to take out extra bend on eleiko WL bar .. When I went to see Andy for some coaching a while back we used a WL bar but with old skool cast iron plates non of these health and safety bumpers, I tend to mix between Texas power and eleiko WL

I guess this will be the only real way unless I can get somewhere in advance to check things out .. Probably go for conservative numbers and see whether it's up down or about the same .. Then will be able to work things out on going from there

The fed I'm thinking of competing in uses a deadlift bar .. I've never used one I have access to Texas power bars and eleiko weightlifting bars ... At present my estimated 1rm on an eleiko is around 255-260 based on triples and fours recently, normally I'm about 2.5-5kg down on a Texas power bar from the eleiko in mid 200s although haven't tested it absolutely. If I'm pulling about 260 approx on an eleiko WL bar what does everyone think that will equate to on a deadlift bar ... I'm stronger on lockout than the floor on the whole .

Looks a solid style but maybe not optimum. Experimenting with dips aka andy B into the lift might help, I nicked them off Andy and they work for me. i had them prior to going to see andy but he looked at them and fine tuned them. When I went to see tom he moved my knees slightly further forward giving me a little more floor speed which has reaped rewards.

Earlier this year had pesky hip flexor injury .. that stopped squats between end January and mid June ... so all I did was various varieties of deadlift. I trained the whole period no belt no straps and had some success got to 235x2 no belted lifetime drug free at 46 years young ... historically I get between 10-15 out of a belt so overall semi injured it was a decent period of deadlift training considering .... Even squat fit I don't do that much squatting currently to manage this hip flexor issue ... I've got pins in my left hip has them in for past 32 years since I was 14 .. squatting for me is hard graft deadlifting has always been fairly easy, as my arms are long so I can take a lot of deadlifting compared to squats ... if I can keep this injury at bay I really need to move my squat numbers higher as they're w@nk .. via more squats and introducing knee wraps over time

I can see your thought process that led to the question.
Its just the response that made it so funny.

I train at university gym ... which is pretty decent tbh. . But it's not got a deadlift bar, monolift and could do with a decent comp spec bench to try out .. as it's a case of benching in the racks off adjustable benches but they're a bit fitness orientated so they're not wide enough etc .. calibrated plates would be nice ... currently have access to elieko weightlifting bars and Texas power bar, and walk out from a rack .. when I got some deadlifting coaching off Andy we used an oly bar I think which is similar to a deadlift bar in terms of bend I think
» Maintaining strength whilst dropping bodyweight (Go to post)01-10-2016 @ 23:38
I got very lean once and got stronger across the board .. a few years back even in my 40s .. ate predominantly protein and fat before workouts and carbs and proteins after .. did some intermittent fasting .. on rest days held carbs back medium to low ... ate a lot of fats from nuts, shellfish, olives, eggs, tuna etc ... one thing I noticed is I became more injury prone as I got leaner and it's hard not having the odd chocolate bar or cake longer term ... energy levels were fine and training wasn't really an issue ...
