The first time that I pulled 400lbs was amazing. And more recently making 160kg squat after being stuck at 150kg for so long. Jonathan

Another good training session today, despite feeling a bit weak and having had some strange aching in the right side of my middle back. Being back at work this week has sapped a little strength from me but f**k it - what can you do?? Squat: 8x60kg 5x90kg 4x110kg 2x130kg 2x4x140kg - the right weight - tough, but OK. Rep pb. Bench, felt strong on this today: 8x60kg 5x90kg 3x110kg 2x4x120kg - easy. Rep pb - been stuck at 3 for months now. Narrow grip bench: 2x8x90kg - tough Thick bar curls: 6x10kg each arm 3x8x15kg each arm Finger rolls and pronated wrist curls: 2x100kg (too much weight) 3x8x60kg Static holds with 140kg, double overhand - 27sec and then 20sec. Awesome ![]() Jonathan

Awh! Nevermind - Joni you may have beaten me to 500lb, but I promise I'll get 250kg first! Jonathan

Balls to that - besides, you powerlifters compete in comps where sumo is permitted, so I shall stick to your rules :P Jonathan

I think that we should stick to january! What you actually mean joni is that sugden comrade Olly, is scared, and feels he needs more time to prepare, in order to stand even a faint chance of beating me! ![]() Jonathan

A pretty good, if fragmented training session today. I had to do the push pressing in the daytime, whilst there was still light, and then waited 1.5hours to deadlift and powerclean. This was a bit of a mistake, as it allowed my (somewhat tender from yoke walks) back to cool off. Push press: 8x20kg 5x40kg (muscle snatched actually!) 1x60kg muscle snatch again 4x60kg (back to push press) 3x80kg 6x90kg - rep pb. Only supposed to do 4, but they were so easy! Previous best is a balls to the walls set of 5. This set of 6 was not failure at all. 5x90kg - thought it best not to push it. Not failure. Deadlifts: 5x60kg 4x100kg 4x140kg 3x180kg 4x205kg - absolute max really! Nothing left. First time I have done more than a double over 200kg 1x205kg - lower back said no more, so I listened. Meant to be 2x4 but I did up the weight (was going to do 200). Power cleans: 5x60kg 3x80kg 2x4x100kg - very hard. Low catches and so tired! Overall a very good day - two rep pbs ![]() Jonathan
» Carbs at Night (Go to post) | 07-11-2006 @ 09:51
Joni, we already discussed this - you need to make 136kg/300lb/21stone 6lb so that you actually double your lowest adult bodyweight! I say bulk - balls to cutting. I think that if you keep the bulk clean, you won't gain too much fat. I have no experience of carb reduction - I just always eat as much as possible. I aim to become the sugden forum's hugest dude in the very near future - I'm at 120kg/19stone now so I'm not far off! Jonathan

Hehe! He is a disco f**ker! I tried power snatch the other day and suggested he give it a go - he did a few reps before started to front raise the bar! ![]() He is pretty strong though - he benched 100kg for a pb last week and I reckon after one powerlifting routine he might total close to 400kg. If you see him again, tell him to stop disco pumping and lift heavy weights ![]() Jonathan

Had a good training session today, doing strongman out in the street. Had to train earlier this morning as I am going to work this afternoon. This is not good for my back, that was sore to start, until I got going. First event was yoke. I have decided to switch to high bar position yoke walks as I have had trouble keeping the bar on my back. This is slightly harder at the moment, but will soon get easier. 40m x 52kg 20m x 132kg 20m x 192kg 2x20m x 232kg - first run was slower, but the second run was fast. Ill take it to 252kg next time. Medley - this consisted of 30m farmers walk with 70kg and one turn, carry a 63kg keg 15m and then push a medium sized car 20m. Some handbrake resistance was applied for the pushing. First run was 52sec and the second run 42sec. Then some bugger parked in our way so that was that. Car push - 3 runs of 20-30m with increased resistance. Good cardio!! ![]() Jonathan

Thanks Rob!! Had a very short session today. Basically because I am working this weekend, I decided to split my strongman sessions over two days. So all I did today was log press. Now this was actually trickier than usual due to the fact that by the time we got our asses in to gear is was getting dark. Darkness is hard to lift in due to balance being all off, and the high wind didn't help either. 8x40kg with the wee log 5x65kg with the big 'un 2x80kg 1x95kg, fast 1x102.5kg - 2.5kg pb. Now this wasn't a very clean rep. It actually landed on my head, and I pressed it for a second time to get an easy lockout. I would have prefered to make it cleanly but f**k it, it's strongman! I maybe would have made it cleanly in the light with no wind 1x105, clean only. I just couldn't balance the log. It was really dark at this point and I didn't expect to make it. 2x90kg, still balance issues 6x65kg, for speed 5x65kg. Each rep was one clean and one press. Did the press as a continuation of the clean, so in effect completely strict. Hard! That is all ![]() Jonathan
