Thanks! These are the ones I can remember for now:
100m - 13.3 (12.5 on slides)
500m - 1:13.2
1000m - 2:52.5
2000m - 6:13.3
30r20 - 8405

Well f*ck me. That's fast.

How long have you been rowing? A quick biography would be really interesting.

Haha - thanks! Grin

I was supposed to be training last night but was so tired from work I ended up sleeping half the evening and then going to bed fairly early.

I really like the 2k distance. I think I'm just going to focus on that for a bit.

From your recent training I think 3.02 is doable. Any plans for a 500? 1.22?

I would say that 3:02.6 is about Bim's limit at the moment. Going faster than that is really, really tough Wink Tongue

Reasonable rowing session today. I jarred my right knee a bit push pressing the other day hence the lack of training yesterday. Didn't seem to affect things today though.

C2:

1000m warmup - 3:39.6 (1:49.8/500m average)

2000m - 7:10.2 (1:47.6/500m average)

2000m - 7:06.9 (1:46.7/500m average)

1000m - 3:18.5 (1:39.2/500m average)

500m cooldown.

Nothing that interesting. Just some meters and sweat.

Thanks dude.
On the plus side, it's gave me a nudge to do more FTOH volume on the log rather than from the shoulders which I think will be good going forward. Looking back I think alot of strongmen, myself included at times, fall in the trap of just lifting heavy for 1-3 and occasionally 5 reps.
Rep goal for log at the moment will be 100kg x 10 FTOH strict press in 75 seconds once I'm all healed up. Then onwards from there Happy .... I think

I was watching Big Z's log workout today on Youtube, and he ends every session with FTOH. I think it was 8 or 10 at 140kg today, after a 180kg single! Grin

Just keeping everything crossed I don't injure myself.

Weights session this evening.

Push press:

(band warmups)
15x15kg strict
8x35kg strict
8x35kg push from now on
6x55kg
6x65kg
3x75kg
5x85kg
4x85kg - fail on 5th

2x10x55kg - strict, and very hard. Triceps goosed.

Lat pulldown, narrow grip, supernated:

5x20x55kg - to try to emulate rowing, albeit supernated. Last set close to failure!

Tricep pushdown:

With the rope

3x10x25kg

Some sort of rowing tomorrow. Distance I think. Possibly a 5k.

Edit: posted twice.

I'm going to say 6:22, to put my hat into the ring.
» The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (Go to post)29-11-2020 @ 20:45
6:20 would be blisteringly quick. The thought of trying that myself brings me out in a cold sweat.

Solid. Glad the discomfort is subsiding Grin

Happy to be able to make a useful suggestion. I've tried pulling lower and higher and higher doesn't seem to result in more speed, only more fatigue.

So it's a 2k you're entered into? What is your target time for raceday?

Well the higher pull just seems pretty natural and gets me a little extra distance for what seems to be negligible effort. If you look towards the end of the video that is how I normally row and I do slide a fair bit further forward, the down side is I can't lean forward if I do that.
One big difference I have noticed is when I don't lean forward I can get more leg drive into the stroke, when I want to go faster I can keep the same S/M and just drive harder. When I don't go as far down the rail and I lean forward more I can't drive as hard, I have to increase the S/M to go faster.

Crap nights sleep and working today sapped the motivation. These felt unreasonably hard and I felt like quitting during all of them, it was meant to be 5 sets but I couldn't face doing the last one. Overall time was decent enough, just felt like crap doing it Grin I'm thinking that I'm going to start winding down for the comp next weekend, slightly steadier sessions with nothing strenuous after about Wednesday.

Interesting how all these little tweaks to form eek out the little bits of extra speed. I'm much to new to this to have any idea what I'm doing or have settled into a form, but I've found that it works better for me to gain the extra ROM at the start of the pull than the end.

Super strong 1k times there. You've gotta be pretty much on for 3 min for a max effort pull? Your heart rate stayed quite low throughout.

Ever.

When the gym opens, I'm going to check this out:

I set my damper at 4 or so for longer distance, but recently tried upping it for sprints. I did my last 100m sprints on 10, but it's horrible compared to 4. 7 is a nice halfway house which I think favours a lifter (ie, more power than fitness) but isn't too brutal.

Boar said:magnificent !!

the fact that a sub 3 is a possibility / probability is pretty cool

I hope so. If I had kept up my first 200m split, I would have been comfortably under 3 minutes, and honestly, I was trying to pace myself. I didn't really realise how quick I'd come out the blocks.

As a point aside, how do I post photos on this forum? I take photos of the monitor after each rep, but have no idea how to post them on this archaic forum.
